Headlamp cleaning system, function - GF82.15-P-3000CA
MODEL 207.3/4 with CODE 600 (Headlamp cleaning system)
Function requirements, general
- Low beam ON
- "Engine running" or "drive train operational" signal on
The low beams can be switched on by the auto on/off headlamps function, the daytime running lights function or manually. The front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) generates the "Low beams ON" status itself corresponding to the pending request. The CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) sends the "Engine running" or "Drivetrain operational" signal over the chassis CAN (CAN E) (up to 31.5.13) or chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1) (as of 1.6.13) to the front SAM control unit.
Headlamp cleaning system, general
The headlamp cleaning system cleans cover plates for the headlamps using a high pressure water spray.
Any soiling of the cover plates is then removed.
Function sequence for headlamp cleaning system
When the low beams are switched on, and the windshield washer system is operated for the tenth (up to 30.11.2011) or the fifth (as of 1.12.2011) time, then the cover plates for the headlamps are cleaned by the headlamp cleaning system. For every further tenth (up to 30.11.2011) or fifth (as of 1.12.2011) wash request, the cover plates for the headlamps are cleaned again.
The steering column tube module control unit (N80) reads in the switch position of the combination switch (S4) directly and sends this over the chassis CAN (up to 31.5.13) or chassis CAN 1 (as of 1.6.13) to the front SAM control unit, which then actuates the headlamp cleaning system pump (M5/2).
The telescopic nozzles are extended by the pressure built up in the headlamp cleaning system pump and the washer fluid cleans the headlamp cover plates.
The number of washing requests is recorded by a counter in the front SAM control unit. An automatic reset occurs when the tenth (up to 30.11.2011) or the fifth (as of 1.12.2011) wash request is reached or manually when circuit 15 is switched off.
The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the circuit status of circuit 15 to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN (CAN B).
