MODEL 207.3/4 up to model year 2014 with CODE 615 (Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated curve illumination)
MODEL 207.3/4 up to model year 2014 with CODE 616 (Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated asymmetric curve illumination)
MODEL 207.3/4 up to model year 2014 with CODE 621 (Intelligent Light System (left-hand traffic))
MODEL 207.3/4 up to model year 2014 with CODE 622 (Intelligent Light System (right-hand traffic))
Location
One xenon light control unit each is located on the underside of the left front lamp unit and on the underside of the right front lamp unit. The xenon light control units are tightly screwed to the housings of the front lamp units. The xenon light control units are connected to the vehicle-side wiring harness via the front lamp units.
Task
The xenon headlamp control units work in a master/slave combination and communicate with each other over the front end CAN (CAN G). As the master the left xenon light control unit synchronizes the right xenon light control unit. The xenon headlamp control units have the following tasks:
- Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Controlling functions
- Actuation of components
Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Front end CAN
Direct line
The signals from the following sensors are read in by the left xenon light control unit over direct lines:
- Left rear level sensor (B22/7)
- Left front level sensor (B22/8)
Front end CAN
The signals are read in by the xenon light control units via the front end CAN.
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions.
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the integrated microprocessors and the relevant components are then actuated.
Controlling functions
The following functions are realized by actuating the appropriate components:
- Low beam
- High beam and headlamp flasher
- Automatic headlamp range adjustment (HRA [LWR])
- Cornering illumination
- Dynamic curve illumination
- Active light distribution (for code (621) Intelligent Light System (left-hand traffic) or code (622) Intelligent Light System (right-hand traffic))
Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Local Interconnect Network (LIN)
Direct line
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Left xenon light control unit:
- Left xenon bulb with integrated ignition module (E1e10)
- Right xenon light control unit:
- Right xenon bulb with integrated ignition module (E2e10)
LIN
The following components are actuated by the left xenon light control unit over the left headlamp LIN (LIN G1):
- Left headlamp range adjustment actuator motor (E1m1)
- Left active curve illumination actuator motor (E1m2)
- Left light distribution actuator motor (E1m3)
The following components are actuated by the right xenon light control unit over the right headlamp LIN (LIN G2):
- Right headlamp range adjustment actuator motor (E2m1)
- Right active curve illumination actuator motor (E2m2)
- Right light distribution actuator motor (E2m3)
