DISASSEMBLINGASSEMBLING Disassemble/assemble     
1.1 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key from electronic ignition lock control unit MODEL 218
without CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO)
 
1.2 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key or KEYLESS-GO start/stop button from electronic ignition lock control unit MODEL 218
with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO)
 
2 Remove rear center console MODEL 218.3  
AR68.20-P-2020EL 
3 Remove rear air vent MODEL 218.9  
AR83.10-P-4800EL
4 Remove Bluetooth module in armrest (3) MODEL 218
with CODE 386 (Comfort telephony)
 
AR82.70-P-8919EW
5 Remove center cover on center console (1) MODEL 218  
MODEL 218 (except 218.374/375/376/392/974/975/976/992) AR68.20-P-2350EW 
6 Unscrew bolts (2) at rear on armrest (3)    
7 Unscrew bolts (4) at front on armrest (3)    
8 Disconnect electrical connectors (5)    
9 Remove armrest (3)    
10 Disconnect electrical connector from center console socket (X58/25) MODEL 218
up to model year 2015
 
11 Disconnect electrical connector from USB electrical connector (X115) MODEL 218
up to model year 2015
IMPORTANT The USB electrical connector (X115) remains in the mounting plate (6).
 
12.1 Disconnect electrical connector from AUX socket electrical connector (X39/45) MODEL 218
up to model year 2015
without CODE 518 (Media interface) Center console, front
IMPORTANT The electrical connector for the AUX connection (X39/45) remains in the mounting plate (6).
 
12.2 Unclip Media Interface electrical connector (X18/70) and guide toward front through opening in mounting plate (6) MODEL 218
up to model year 2015
with CODE 518 (Media interface) Center console, front
 
13.1 Unclip mounting plate (6) and remove MODEL 218
up to model year 2015
 
13.2 Unclip mounting plate (6), remove electrical connector on USB electrical connector (X115) and remove mounting plate (6) MODEL 218
as of model year 2015
 
14 Open cover (8) on center console socket (X58/25), insert pliers (9) into connector housing (10) and pull connector housing (10) approx. 5 cm out of sprung pin (11) MODEL 218
up to model year 2015
When replacing mounting plate (6) or center console socket (X58/25).
IMPORTANT The pins on the SPECIAL TOOL pliers (9) should reach into the cutout of the connector housing (10) (arrows A).

15 Unclip clamping sleeve (11) by pushing back catch hook (arrows B) out of mounting plate (6) and remove center console socket (X58/25) together with connector housing (10) and clamping sleeve (11 MODEL 218
up to model year 2015
When replacing mounting plate (6) or center console socket (X58/25).
IMPORTANT It is not possible to disassemble the center console socket (X58/25).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check for correct installation position of spring pin (11).
 
16 Unclip USB electrical connector (X115) from mounting plate (6) and remove When replacing mounting plate (6) or USB connection electrical connector (X115).  
17 Unclip AUX connection electrical connector (X39/45) from mounting plate (6) and remove MODEL 218
up to model year 2015
When replacing mounting plate (6) or AUX connection electrical connector (X39/45).
 
18 Remove center console (1) When replacing center console (1).  
AR68.20-P-2000EL 
19 Remove blower motor in rear MODEL 218
with CODE 581 (Automatic air conditioning) When replacing center console (1).
 
AR83.30-P-5565EW
20 Transfer wiring harnesses and fasten When replacing center console (1).
IMPORTANT Ensure that wiring harnesses are routed and fastened without chafing.
 
21 Assemble in the reverse order
