	Remove/install
1	Remove cover above brake fluid expansion reservoir
2	Clean area around cap on expansion reservoir for brake fluid	Assembly cleaner	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
3	Unscrew the cap on the brake fluid expansion reservoir and suction off some brake fluid	This prevents the expansion reservoir overflowing when the brake piston is pushed back.
4	Remove front wheels		AR40.10-P-1101A
5	Disconnect right front brake wear sensor from electrical connector
6	Unscrew screws/bolts (2)	Replace screw/bolts (2).
		Model 205.086/087/286/287/386/387/486/487 with code B06 (grey-painted brake callipers) except code B07 (Ceramic brake system) except code U70 (red-painted brake callipers) 6-piston fixed-caliper brake Bolt, brake caliper to steering knuckle	*BA42.10-P-1001-10W
7	Remove brake caliper (1) from wheel carrier and secure free of tension to vehicle with lines still connected	Do not subject the brake hose (4) and electrical line to tension and do not kink them. The brake hose (4) and the electrical line may otherwise be damaged.
8	Remove brake pads (3) from brake caliper (1)	Only sets of brake linings (3) approved by Mercedes-Benz may be installed. Do not apply brake paste or lubricants to the brake linings (3) and brake calipers (1).
9	Remove spring steel sheets from brake caliper (1)	When replacing the brake pads (3).
	Check
10	Check retaining spring for damage and condition	If there are problems: ↓ Replace retaining spring.
11	Check brake linings (3) for wear and that they are in good condition

		In case of damage or excessive wear: ↓ Replace brake linings (3). Replace the brake linings (3) as a complete set only.
12	Check brake disk for wear and condition

		In case of damage or excessive wear: ↓ Replace brake disk.

		Replace brake disks as a complete set only.
13	Check brake caliper (1) and dust boots of brake piston for leaktightness and damage	If there are problems: ↓ Replace brake caliper (1).

14	Press back brake piston using resetting device	Secure remaining brake pistons using two wedges against slipping out.

	Clean
15	Clean contact surfaces of brake linings (3) on brake caliper (1) and brake piston	Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects. The brake caliper (1) or the dust boots of the brake pistons can otherwise be damaged.
		Assembly cleaner	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
16	Pull right front brake wear sensor out of pad backing plate of brake lining (3)	When replacing the brake linings (3) or replacing right front brake wear sensor.
17	Install in the reverse order
18	Operate the brake pedal several times until brake linings (3) contact the brake disks	Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.

19	Check/correct brake fluid level in expansion reservoir

20	Carry out brake test on the test stand
			AP42.00-P-4290BA
