	Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

	Remove/install
1	Secure vehicle on vehicle lift		AR00.60-P-0100CW
2	Remove corresponding complete rear wheel		AR40.10-P-1101A
3	Detach collar nut of rear axle shaft (37)	Replace collar nut and secure after tightening.
3	Detach collar nut of rear axle shaft (37)	Nut, rear axle shaft to wheel bearing	*BA35.30-P-1001-01N
4	Detach plastic cover from spring control arm
5	Lift steering knuckle (7) until rear axle shaft (37) is almost horizontal	Tighten the threaded connection of the strut rod (5), camber strut (2), thrust arm (3) and tie rod (4).

6	Detach camber strut (2), strut rod (5), tie rod (4) and thrust arm (3) from steering knuckle (7)	Screw on the threaded connections loosely.
7	Unclip electrical line of rpm sensor from bracket on steering knuckle (7) and from bracket on wheel arch
8	Disconnect electrical connector from actuator motor of electric parking brake and create access to electrical line		AR42.20-P-0600LW
9	Unclip electrical line of rear axle damping valve unit from bracket on steering knuckle (7) and from bracket on wheel arch	MODEL 205 with CODE 489 (AIRMATIC (air suspension with level adjustment and adaptive damping system (ADS)))
10	Lower steering knuckle (7)	Lift the steering knuckle (7) until the rear axle shaft (37) is almost horizontal.
11	Fold down steering knuckle (7) and pull rear axle shaft (37) out of rear axle shaft flange	If the rear axle shaft (37) is difficult to remove ↓ Press rear axle shaft (37) out of rear axle shaft flange.

12	Pry rear axle shaft (37) out of rear axle differential (50)	Do not fasten assembly lever to the protective ring (37a). Support the assembly lever on the rear axle differential (50) using e.g. a socket wrench.
13	Take out rear axle shaft (37)	Replace locking ring (37o) on inner spline profile.
	Check
14	Check constant velocity joints	With axial or radial play ↓ Replace rear axle shaft (37).
15	Check boots (37m)	If leaky or damaged ↓ Replace the boot (37m) concerned.

16	Check side radial shaft sealing ring in rear axle differential (50)	If leaky or damaged ↓ Replace side radial shaft sealing ring on rear axle differential (50).
