Function requirements for speaker output, general
- Circuit 30 g ON
- Transport mode not active
Speaker output, general
A distinction is made between the following procedures:
- Speaker output in vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system)
- Speaker output in vehicles except CODE 810 (Sound system)
- Speaker actuation in the event of voice output
The speaker actuation with voice connection for telematics services (e.g. emergency call) (with code 06U (Mercedes connect me basic services), code 348 (Emergency call/assist system), code 350 (E-Call Europe emergency call system)) is described in separate information.
Speaker output in vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system)
The audio signals are routed by the head unit via the tuner unit or via Media Oriented System Transport to the sound system amplifier control unit, where they are finally amplified and output over the following speakers via direct lines:
- Center instrument panel speaker
- Left footwell woofer
- Right footwell woofer
- Left rear surround sound system midrange speaker
- Right rear surround sound system midrange speaker
- Left front door tweeter
- Right front door tweeter
- Left rear door/side paneling tweeter
- Right rear door/side paneling tweeter
- Left front door midrange speaker
- Right front door midrange speaker
- Left rear door/side paneling midrange speaker
- Right rear door/side paneling midrange speaker
During actuation of the speaker system, the volume is adapted to the noise level in the vehicle interior. To do so, the sound system amplifier control unit receives a vehicle speed signal via the head unit.
Model 205 with engine 276
Model 253 with engine 276
The sound system amplifier control unit receives synthesized sound signals from the engine sound control unit.
Model 205, 253
with code 06U (Mercedes connect me standard services)
Model 205, 253
with code 348 (Emergency call/assistant system)
Model 205, 253
with code 350 (Ecall emergency call system, Europe)
The center instrument panel speaker is used for voice output for telematics services with voice connection (e.g. emergency call) and - depending on the equipment - actuated by the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) or the telematics services communications module (N112/1).
Speaker output in vehicles except CODE 810 (Sound system)
The audio signals are output by the head unit via direct lines over the following speakers:
- Left footwell woofer (right-hand drive vehicles)
- Right footwell woofer (left-hand drive vehicles)
- Left front door midrange speaker
- Right front door midrange speaker
- Left rear door/side paneling midrange speaker
- Right rear door/side paneling midrange speaker
On vehicles with engine 276, the head unit sends the processed audio signals via direct lines to the engine sound control unit, which then forwards the signals via direct lines to the speakers.

Model 205, 253
with code 348 (Emergency call/assistant system)
Model 205, 253
with code 350 (Ecall emergency call system, Europe)
The center instrument panel speaker is used for voice output for telematics services with voice connection (e.g. emergency call) and - depending on the equipment - actuated by the emergency call system control unit or the telematics services communications module.
Speaker actuation in the event of voice output
The following speakers are actuated for voice output (e.g. as part of the telephony, navigation or voice control system):
- Left front door tweeter (with CODE 810 (Sound system))
- Right front door tweeter (with CODE 810 (Sound system))
- Left front door midrange speaker
- Right front door midrange speaker
- Center instrument panel speaker (with CODE 810 (Sound system))
