Remove/install door module - AR72.10-P-0900LW

DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove side window on front door   AR72.10-P-1900LW 
2 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key    
3 Disconnect battery ground line   AR54.10-P-0003LW
4 Unlock left front door electrical connector (X35/1) or right front door electrical connector (X35/2) by pulling bracket on electrical coupling (2) and disconnect    
5 Pull lock tab (4) out until catch hook (5) can be actuated SPECIAL TOOL Extraction hook Fig 6
6 Press catch hook (5) with suitable screwdriver until electrical connector (3) can be tilted at top into the inner door panel    
7 Guide electrical connector (3) into front door    
8 Unlock electrical connectors (6, 7) on outside mirror on left front door control unit (N69/1) or right front door control unit (N69/2) and disconnect    
9 Detach mirror triangle paneling (8) from window frame paneling IMPORTANT Model 205.0/1/2

Removal:  Allow mirror triangle paneling (8) to hang down with electrical line connected.
 
10 Unclip retaining clip (9) from inner door panel Model 205.0/1/2

11 Disconnect electrical connector (red) (10.1) and remove electrical lines (10) from working area Model 205.0/1/2

12 Disconnect electrical connector (white) (11.1) and remove electrical lines (11) from working area Model 205.0/1/2

13 Disconnect electrical connector (black) (12.1) and remove electrical lines (12) from working area Model 205.0/1/2

14 Remove outside door handle    
15 Loosen bolts (13)    
16 Push bearing bracket (14) toward front and unhook from door paneling    
17 Unscrew bolts (15) from door lock    
18.1 Unscrew bolts (16) from door module (1) When fastening door module (1) with bolts (16).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Repair stage 1:
If screws (16) are stripped out, screws with larger diameter are available from EPC for mounting door module (1).
Repair stage 2:
If larger screws are also stripped out, blind rivets for mounting door module (1) are available from EPC.
 
18.2 Drill out rivet heads on rivets (17) from door module (1) When fastening door module (1) with rivets (17).  
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 02 39 00 Rivet press tool   WS60.00-P-0010B
    IMPORTANT Use 7 mm dia. bit.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Fasten door module (1) on front door with rivets (17).
 
19 Detach door module (1) from front door If door module (1) sticks to front door.

20 Remove door module (1) from front door    
21 Drill out rivet residues (arrow) at top left and top right When fastening door module (1) at top left and top right with rivets (17).  
22 Press out any pieces of rivets remaining in the inner door panel When fastening door module (1) with rivets (17).

23 Remove rivet residues and shaving from front door When fastening door module (1) with rivets (17).
NOTES Remove rivet residues and shaving completely.
Otherwise remaining rivet residues can cause corrosion damage on front door.
 
24 Install in the reverse order
