Remove/install radial shaft sealing rings on axle shafts (with transmission installed) - AR26.40-P-0339NKB

TRANSMISSION 711.6 in MODEL 117, 156, 176, 242, 246

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling MODEL 117, 176, 242, 246 with ENGINE 270 with TRANSMISSION 711.6
MODEL 156 with TRANSMISSION 711.6

MODEL 117, 176, 246 with ENGINE 607 with TRANSMISSION 711.6
MODEL 117, 176, 246 with ENGINE 651 with TRANSMISSION 711.6

2 Drain transmission oil   AR26.00-P-0200NKB 
3 Remove respective front axle shaft   AR33.30-P-0620NKB
4 Detach heat shield from crankcase and axle shaft bearing housing Only when removing the radial shaft sealing ring (1) of right front axle shaft.  
5 Pry radial shaft sealing ring (1) out of transmission (26) using a suitable tool NOTES Do not damage seat surface of radial shaft sealing ring (1).
The leaktightness and perfect seating of the radial shaft sealing ring (1) can otherwise not be guaranteed.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Coat sealing lip of radial shaft sealing ring (1) with transmission oil.
 
SPECIAL TOOL Drift Fig 2
INSPECT Check     
6 Check seat cushion of radial shaft sealing ring (1) NOTES Before inserting the new radial shaft sealing ring (1) check the seat surface for damage. The leaktightness and perfect seating of the radial shaft sealing ring (1) can otherwise not be guaranteed.  
7 Install in the reverse order    
8 Check oil level and correct if necessary   AR26.00-P-0200NKB 
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
9 Conduct engine test run and check transmission (26) for leaktightness and proper operation
