DANGER Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
DANGER Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove brake linings MODEL 217.377/378/379
with CODE B07 (Ceramic brake system)
MODEL 222.177/178/179
with CODE B07 (Ceramic brake system)		 AR42.10-P-1600RKK 
    MODEL 217, 222
without CODE B07 (Ceramic brake system)		 AR42.10-P-1600LF 
2 Unscrew screw/bolt (1) and remove electrical connector for right front brake wear sensor (S10/2) from brake caliper (2) and expose electrical line (3) When removing brake caliper (2) on right side of vehicle
TORQUE SPECIFICATION MODEL 217, 222		 *BA42.10-P-1004-10V 
3 Remove appropriate brake hose (4)   AR42.10-P-0013LF 
4 Remove bolts (5) and remove brake caliper (2) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace screws/bolts (5).
TORQUE SPECIFICATION MODEL 217, 222		 *BA42.10-P-1001-10V 
INSPECT Check     
5 Check brake caliper (2) and dust boots of brake piston for leaktightness and damage If leaking or damaged:
↓
Replace brake caliper (2).		  
6 Press back brake piston using resetting device SPECIAL TOOL Resetting device
If brake pistons are sluggish:
↓
Replace brake caliper (2).		 Fig 2
CLEAN Clean     
7 Clean contact surfaces of brake linings on brake caliper (2) NOTES
Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects. The dust boots can otherwise be damaged.
Assembly cleaner		 *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
8 Install in the reverse order    
9 Bleed brake system   AR42.10-P-0010LF 
DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
10 Operate the brake pedal several times until brake linings make contact with the brake disks (6) IMPORTANT Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.  
INSPECT Check     
11 Check fluid level in hydraulic fluid reservoir for brake fluid    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP42.10-P-4210HA 
12 Carry out brake test on the test stand    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP42.00-P-4290BA
