	Remove/install
1	Remove cover above brake fluid expansion reservoir
2	Clean area around cap on expansion reservoir for brake fluid
3	Unscrew the cap on the brake fluid expansion reservoir and suction off some brake fluid	This prevents the expansion reservoir overflowing when the brake piston is pushed back.
4	Detach corresponding complete wheel

5	Detach electrical connection for front right brake wear sensor (S10/2x1) for front right brake wear sensor (S10/2)	When removing brake pads on right side of vehicle
6	Remove bolt (6) and then remove tie rod (7)	When tie rod (7) present MODEL 217, 222 except CODE B07 (AMG ceramic high-performance compound brake system)	*BA42.10-P-1003-10V
7	Knock out retaining pins (1) using punch and remove retaining spring (2)	Hammer in retaining pins (1) up to the end stop. Check retaining spring (2) is correctly seated.
8	Pull brake linings (3) out of brake caliper (4)
	Notes on installation position of brake linings	Do not apply any brake paste or lubricants to brake pads (3) and brake calipers (4). Malfunctions may occur otherwise. Pry out seized brake linings (3) using a lever. Only sets of brake linings (3) approved by Mercedes-Benz may be installed. Make sure that the brake linings (3) are installed at the correct position. 12	Press back brake piston using resetting device	Secure remaining brake pistons to prevent them slipping out.

	Clean
13	Clean contact surfaces of brake linings (3) on brake caliper (4)	Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects. Otherwise the dust boots may be damaged. Assembly cleaner	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
14	Pull right front brake wear sensor (S10/2) out of pad backing plate of brake lining (3)	When replacing the brake linings (3) or if the right front brake wear sensor (S10/2) is defective. Replace the defective right front brake wear sensor (S10/2).
15	Install in the reverse order
	Risk of accident when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work.	Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.	AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
16	Depress brake pedal several times until brake linings (3) lie against brake disks (5)	Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.

17	Check fluid level in expansion reservoir for brake fluid.
