Remove/install engine hood - AR88.40-P-3000LW

DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  from fingers being pinched or jammed when working on gas struts under pressure Only remove and install pneumatic springs when they are not under tension and when the components are properly secured. AS00.00-Z-0012-01A
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Open engine hood (1) and raise to vertical position    
2 Remove cover (2) and lay down into engine compartment with water hose connected. Model 205
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install cover (2) only after adjusting engine hood (1).

3 Remove water hose on left spray nozzle and unhook from left bracket Model 253  
4 Unscrew two of three nuts (3) from left and right hinge (4) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Tighten nuts (3) so that engine hood (1) can still be moved. Tighten nuts (3) after adjusting engine hood (1).  
5 Lift retainers (5) with suitable screwdriver and unclip left and right gas-filled strut (6) from mounts NOTES Do not remove retainers (2).
Otherwise the tension of the retainer (2) can be lost.
IMPORTANT Helper required to secure engine hood (1).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Clip gas-filled struts (6) into mounts with retainers (5) installed.
 
6 Unscrew nuts (3) on left and right hinge (4) and remove engine hood (1) IMPORTANT Helper required to remove engine hood (1).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Tighten nuts (3) so that engine hood (1) can still be moved. Tighten nuts (3) after adjusting engine hood (1).
 
7 Install in the reverse order    
8 Adjust engine hood (1)   AR88.40-P-3020LW
