	Removing
	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
		While working on the rear axle care must be taken to ensure that the surfaces of aluminum components do not get any scratches, cracks and notches. Otherwise the service life of the parts is reduced.

3	Remove left or right rear axle shaft (2)		AR35.30-P-0620V
4	Using a suitable screwdriver, press the radial sealing ring (3) out of the rear axle center assembly	Do not damage the seat surface of the radial sealing ring (3) in the rear axle differential. The leaktightness and perfect seating of the radial sealing ring (3) can otherwise not be guaranteed.
5.1	Replace rear axle differential breather	Model 171 Clean the housing surface around the breather before removal and make sure that no dirt enters the housing opening of the breather. Otherwise damage may occur inside the rear axle differential. Rear axle center assembly Ø 198 mm: Unscrew breather from rear axle center assembly.
		Rear axle differential dia. 198 mm Rear axle differential Ø 187 mm, 200 mm, 215 mm: the differential must be removed to be replaced: ↓	*BA35.31-P-1005-02C
		Remove/install differential	AR35.31-P-0520V
5.2	Check rear axle differential breather for signs of leakage, replace if necessary	Model 172 Clean the breather before removal and make sure that no dirt enters the breather. Otherwise damage may occur inside the rear axle differential.
	Install
6	Press radial sealing ring (3) using drift (4) into rear axle center assembly.	Before inserting the new radial sealing ring (3), check the seat surface for damage. Otherwise the leaktightness and perfect seating of the radial sealing ring (3) cannot be guaranteed. Coat sealing lip of new radial seal (3) with universal hypoid gear oil.
