DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

  Preparatory activity

REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR
Lift vehicle on vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-1000LF
REMOVING Remove     
2 Remove hubcaps Vehicle with hubcaps.  
3 Unfasten wheel bolts and wheels using wheel lift NOTES
Complete wheels may only be removed using a wheel lift.
The brake disks and complete wheels can otherwise be damaged.
 
INSPECT Check     
4 Check tires for signs of damage and make sure that they are in good condition If complaint present

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.

5.1 Check manufacture date of tires on front and rear axle Model 222
with code Z07 (Top protection) Countries with hot climate.
Countries with temperate climate.
If the manufacture date is older than 6 years or if the driven distance is higher than 15, 000 km in countries with a temperate climate, when the load applied to each tire does not exceed a maximum of half the load capacity per axle or maximum 100 % of the load index on the tire.

Subject to a separate repair order, replace the tires for safety reasons.

5.2 Check manufacture date of tires on front and rear axle Model 222

If the manufacture date is older than 6 years or if the driven distance is higher than 10, 000 km in countries with a hot climate, when the load applied to each tire does not exceed a maximum of half the load capacity per axle or maximum 100 % of the load index on the tire.

Subject to a separate repair order, replace the tires for safety reasons.

INSTALLING Install     
6 Clean and check wheel bolt connection components, then protect against corrosion NOTES
Before mounting a wheel-and-tire assembly all  the operation steps listed in the linked description must be conducted carefully.
The complete wheel can otherwise work its way loose from the vehicle.

7 Change round wheel-and-tire assemblies on front and rear axles If necessary, subject to separate repair order and only for vehicle without mixed tires.
NOTES
The running direction of the complete wheels must be retained.
Otherwise handling characteristics and handling comfort may be impaired and tire wear increased.
 
8 Mount wheels using wheel lift and tighten wheel bolts NOTES
Complete wheels may only be removed using a wheel lift.
The brake disks and complete wheels can otherwise be damaged.
NOTES
The tightening sequence (1 to 5) and tightening torque must be observed.
Otherwise, the complete wheel may be damaged or work its way loose from the vehicle.

10 Correct tire pressure of front and rear axle tires In the event of unusual tire pressure loss

Determine and rectify cause, subject to separate repair order.

11 Mount hubcaps Vehicle with hubcaps.
NOTES
Hubcaps must be correctly positioned relative to the valves and securely seated.
Otherwise the valve will be damaged or the hubcaps will be lost.
 
12.1 Activate the tire pressure monitoring system Model 217
with code 475 (Tire pressure monitoring system)
Model 222
with code 475 (Tire pressure monitoring system)
Only for wheel-and-tire assembly change, tire replacement or a change in tire pressure.
