Remove/install brake shoes of parking brake - AR42.20-P-0530CW

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

1 Remove brake disk (61) MODEL 204 (except 204.077/277/377) Removing/installing brake disk, brake caliper and pads of rear wheel brake AR42.10-P-0250CW

2 Unhook retracting spring (111) using removal and installation tool (040) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Note installation position of retracting spring (111).

3 Remove retaining springs (107) with installation tool (041) IMPORTANT Compress retaining springs (107) and turn counterclockwise or clockwise through 90°.

4 Remove brake shoes (103) with adjusting mechanism (105) and retracting spring (112) IMPORTANT If the brake shoes (103) are burnt or the brake disk surfaces are damaged the brake shoes (103), retracting springs (111, 112) as well as the retaining springs (107) and brake disk (61) should be replaced.  
5 Remove retracting spring (112) and adjusting mechanism (105) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Apply light coating of grease to thread on thrust piece (104) and inner cylinder of adjusting mechanism (105). Turn back adjusting mechanism (105) and mount so that the thrust piece (104) contacts the upper brake shoe (103).  
Paste, hot lubrication 1 kg, DB supply specification 6879.20 *BR00.45-Z-1005-06A 
6 Remove expansion lock (109) IMPORTANT Do this by folding up expansion lock (109) and pressing bolt (109a) out of expansion lock (109) and rear brake cable (86).  
7 Check expansion lock (109) for ease of movement and damage If necessary, replace expansion lock (109).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Apply light coating of grease to pin (109a) as well as bearing and slide surfaces on expansion lock (109).
 
Paste, hot lubrication 1 kg, DB supply specification 6879.20 BR00.45-Z-1005-06A
INSPECT Check     
8 Check parking-brake brake cables Check for ease of movement and chafing marks, replace if necessary:  
Remove/install rear brake control cable AR42.20-P-0525CW 
Remove/install center brake cable AR42.20-P-0523CW 
Remove/install front brake control cable AR42.20-P-0520CW 
9 Install in the reverse order    
10 Adjust parking brake Adjust parking brake AR42.20-P-0540CW 
11 Bed in parking brake according to instructions    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Bed in parking brake according to instructions. AP42.20-P-4290-01BA
12 Carry out brake test on the test stand    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Brake testing on test stand AP42.00-P-4290BA
