27.2.12 Reference to the altered version of the poly-V belt, added Operation step 9 BT13.20-P-1000-01SXH
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of death  when touching components on vehicles with high-voltage on-board electrical system Do not touch components and open lines of the high-voltage on-board electrical system.
Persons who are carriers of electronic implants (e.g. cardiac pacemakers), must not  carry out any work on high-voltage on-board electrical systems.

1 Perform disable for the high-voltage on-board electrical system Model 221.095/195
IMPORTANT After completing the work, attach initial startup event log together with the disconnection log to the vehicle file.

2 Switch off ignition    
3 Remove the front and central sections of the lower engine compartment paneling INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install engine compartment paneling only after engine test run. AR61.20-P-1105SX
4 Drain coolant at radiator   AR20.00-P-1142SX

5 Remove front engine cover and left engine air intake duct See Remove air filter housing. AR09.10-P-1150SX
6 Remove electrical vacuum pump Model 221.095/195 AR43.05-P-1320SXH
7 Remove high-voltage line from electrical A/C compressor and set aside Model 221.095/195 AR83.55-P-5300SXH
SPECIAL TOOL Fig 3
8 Unfasten bracket for electrical vacuum pump from timing case cover and cylinder head and lay in the electrical A/C compressor Model 221.095/195 AR43.05-P-1320SXH
9 Remove poly-V belt tensioning device (2) Except model 221.095/195 with a twin belt drive AR13.20-P-0001SX
REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS Version of the poly-V belt altered Model 221.095/195 BT13.20-P-1000-01SXH
10 Remove three-disk thermostat (Y110)   AR20.10-P-2460SX
11 Remove oil filter housing (4)   AR18.20-P-3471SX
12 Remove power steering expansion reservoir Vehicles with AIRmatic except model 221.095/195 AR46.25-P-1000SX
13 Disconnect electrical connectors on Hall sensors (B6/4, B6/6)    
14 Disconnect electrical connectors on solenoids (Y49/4, Y49/6)    
15 Detach clamp (6)    
16 Remove screw/bolts (7a) from front cover (7) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA01.30-P-1006-01O 
17 Carefully loosen front cover (7) at lifting lugs (7b) and pull off to the front IMPORTANT Pay attention to fitted sleeves in area of outer threaded connections (arrows).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Apply sealant to the front cover (7): ↓
 
IMPORTANT   Notes on sealant path for front cover (7) on cylinder head AH01.30-P-1000-02V

    Loctite 5970 sealant *BR00.45-Z-1013-01A 
CLEAN Clean     
18 Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head, on cylinder head cover and on front cover (7) NOTES Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper as this will damage the sealing surfaces. AR01.00-P-0050-01A
Loctite 7200 *BR00.45-Z-1038-04A 
Loctite 7063 cleaning spray (150 ml) *BR00.45-Z-1046-04A 
19 Remove Hall sensors (B6/4, B6/6) from front cover (7) When replacing the front cover (7)  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA15.10-P-1002-03E 
20 Remove solenoids (Y49/4, Y49/6) from front cover (7) When replacing the front cover (7)  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA15.10-P-1003-03E 
21 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Checking     
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

22 Carry out engine test run while checking engine for function and oil leaks
