	Remove/install
	Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid	Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.	AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

1	Clean area around cap on expansion reservoir for brake fluid
2	Unscrew the cap on the brake fluid expansion reservoir and suction off some brake fluid	In order to prevent the expansion reservoir overflowing when pressing back the brake pistons.
3	Remove the front wheels

4	Detach electrical connection for front right brake wear sensor (S10/2x1) for front right brake wear sensor (S10/2)
5	Unscrew bolt (30) and remove support (33)	MODEL 166.074/874	*BA42.10-P-1005-10L
6	Drive out retaining pins (41) using punch and remove retaining spring (31d)	Replace retaining pins (41) if necessary. Hammer in retaining pins (41) as far as the end stop. Ensure that retaining spring (31d) is correctly seated.
7	Pull brake linings (43) out of brake caliper (31a)	Do not apply brake pastes or lubricants to the brake linings (43) and brake calipers (31a). Malfunctions may occur otherwise. Pry out seized brake linings (43) using a lever. Only sets of brake linings approved by Mercedes-Benz (43) may be installed. Make sure that the brake linings (43) are installed at the correct position.

8	Check brake linings (43) for wear and that they are in good condition

		Replace the brake linings (43) if necessary.
9	Check brake disks (61) for wear and that they are in good condition

		Replace brake disks (61) if they are worn or damaged ↓ Remove/install brake disc

10	Check brake caliper (31a) and dust boots of brake piston for leaktightness and damage	Replace brake caliper (31a) if necessary: ↓ Remove/install front axle brake caliper

11	Press back brake piston using resetting device	Secure remaining brake pistons to prevent them slipping out.

		If brake pistons are sluggish, replace brake caliper (31a): ↓ Remove/install front axle brake caliper

	Clean
12	Clean contact surfaces of brake linings (43) on brake caliper (31a)	Do not damage the brake piston dust boots. Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects. The brake caliper (31a) must otherwise be replaced.

13	Pull right front brake wear sensor (S10/2) out of pad backing plate of brake lining (43)	Only when replacing the brake linings (43) or if the front right brake wear sensor (S10/2) is defective. Replace the defective right front brake wear sensor (S10/2).
14	Install in the reverse order
	Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.		AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
15	Depress brake pedal several times until brake linings (43) lie against brake disks (31a)	Replace the defective right front brake wear sensor (S10/2).

16	Check fluid level in brake fluid reservoir, and correct if necessary

17	Carry out brake test on the test stand
