Disconnect/Connect Battery Ground Line - Ar54.10-D-0003SD

  Risk of explosion  from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury  through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Turn transmitter key in electronic ignition switch EZS control unit to position "0" IMPORTANT After turning the transmitter key a run-on time of 20 s must be waited for before disconnecting the ground line (6).  
2 Detach battery main switch (S25/20) MODEL 906
with CODE E30 (Battery master switch)
IMPORTANT If no work is to be carried out in the area of the battery (G1), additional steps can be deleted.
 
3 Remove bolts (1) and remove door sill molding (2)    
4 Remove bolts (8) and panel (7) MODEL 906 with CODE PE4 (Master code bus DCAA Argen company) or with CODE PE5 (Master code BUS platform seating, Argen company)  
5 Remove floor covering (3)    
6 Loosen bolts (5)    
7 Push cover (4) backwards (arrow) and remove    
8 Disconnect ground cable (6) from battery (G1)    
9 Using a diode test lamp, check the on-board electrical system for voltage between the positive line of the battery (G1) and the disconnected ground line (6) NOTES Cover the positive line.
Otherwise a short circuit may occur.
If the diode test lamp lights up, the on-board electrical system is still active because of a defect in the electrical system. In this case the ground line of the additional battery should be disconnected. ↓
Detach ground line from additional battery.

IMPORTANT Check on-board electrical system after completing work.  
10 Install in the reverse order    
11 Adjust clock and normalize power windows Only if necessary.
