Retrofitting ultrasonic backup assist - AZ54.65-P-0001J

MODEL 220.0/1 up to 30.6.02 except CODE (550) Trailer hitch

REMOVING Removing     
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of injury  caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or metal spatter due to short circuit. Risk of burn injuries  caused by short circuit. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or absorption of lead over the skin or orifices No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves and clothing and safety glasses with side guards.
Do not place any conductive objects on the battery and avoid any short circuit from battery positive to ground.
Only fill liquid battery electrolyte (diluted sulfuric acid) into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

1 Disconnect ground lead from battery

2 Remove rear bumper    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR88.20-P-2200M
3 Remove impact absorber from bumper    
4 Remove trim panel in trunk Right trim panel.  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 220.026/028/063/065/070/073/075/128/165/170/173/175/178/875/878. AR68.30-P-4600M
5 Remove paneling on C-pillar Right C-pillar.  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.30-P-4490M
INSTALLING Installing     
6 Paint sensors and contour rings   AZ54.65-P-0001-01A
7 Drill holes in bumper   AZ54.65-P-0001-02I
8 Install and connect sensors   AZ54.65-P-0001-03A
9 Install impact absorber in bumper    
10 Install rear bumper IMPORTANT Pass connecting cable of sensor wiring harness through the determined or pre-prepared hole in the rear end into the trunk. Seal the hole with a rubber grommet.

11 Install control module   AZ54.65-P-0001-04J
12 Install display instrument   AZ54.65-P-0001-05K
13 Route and connect wiring harness   AZ54.65-P-0001-06A
14 Install paneling on C-pillar

15 Install trim panel in trunk

16 Connect ground lead to battery

17 Check ultrasonic backup assist   AZ54.65-P-0001-07A
18 Hand the manufacturer's safety/operating instructions to the customer when returning the vehicle
