Function requirements

General

The route guidance through voice output function is an assistance function that assists the driver without distracting him from the traffic. The destination-oriented navigation of the navigation system is primarily supported by voice outputs with the following information:

The voice output of the navigation system features the following languages:

Additional voice messages are emitted at the start of the route calculation, when an intermediate stop is reached or when the destination is reached.

Operating instructions

The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) is operated using the following components:

IMPORTANT When voice output is active the announcement volume can be adjusted using the following components:

IMPORTANT The audio output volume is dynamically aligned with the noise level inside the vehicle (speed-dependent volume control (SDV [GAL])).

IMPORTANT A special note is given during voice output in the following cases:

Function sequence

The radio and navigation unit combines the word segments into complete instructions or information by means of the integrated navigation processor during a voice output and generates low frequency (LF) signals. If required, the low frequency signals are forwarded via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the amplifier for sound system (N40/3), with code (810) Sound system, where they are then amplified.

The low frequency signals are sent from the amplifier for sound system to the following speakers via direct lines:

IMPORTANT The audio signal for the subwoofer (H4/29) travels from the radio and navigation unit to the amplifier for the sound system via MOST and from there, via direct lines to the subwoofer amplifier (N40/9) and then to the subwoofer speaker.

In vehicles without code (810) Sound system, the LF signals are amplified in the radio and navigation unit and output over the following speakers via direct lines:
