Audio 50 APS volume/sound settings, function - GF82.61-P-2006GZ

The signal processing required for the volume and tone settings is accomplished by the radio and navigation unit (A2/56). If the vehicle is additionally equipped with the amplifier for sound system (N40/3) (sound system, code 810), this amplifier provides the final amplification of the audio signals.

Volume 

A different volume setting is possible for the navigation and for the telephone. A shared setting applies to the other modes. The set volume is stored automatically by the radio and navigation unit for the currently active mode. The volume for navigation announcements can only be set during an announcement.

Fade-over of volume 

Audio sources that are faded in automatically are superimposed on a currently active audio source.

An automatically faded in navigation announcement overlays, for example, the audio source radio mode which has just become active. The degree of reduction is adjustable.

Volume setting 

The volume can be adjusted with the rotary pushbutton of the radio and navigation unit for each of the selected audio sources as well as for the voice output for navigation, voice output for voice control system (VCS [SBS]), and telephone.

The volume can also be controlled with the + and - buttons on the multifunction steering wheel when set to specific functions and volume control (S111s1)

Switching on again 

After switching back on, the volume may be quieter than when switched off.

It is quieter if

Muting 

When muting is activated, only traffic announcements and navigation announcements are audible.

Pressing the "Speaker symbol" function key activates or deactivates the mute function.

Tone setting 

The radio and navigation unit enables manual sound adjustments for each audio source.

The tone settings include:

Treble and bass 

Differentiated treble and bass control is possible with the following features:

The display for setting the treble or bass appears by pressing the "bass and treble" button (musical clef) on the left side.

The "left" and "right" arrow keys can be used to set the treble and bass.

Pressing the "OK" button of the cross-shaped controls stores the set value. If the operator waits until the display changes, the value is also stored.

The bass and treble for the navigation announcements can only be set during an announcement. No bass or treble adjustment is available for the telephone mode nor for the voice control system.

Sound  (sound system, code 810)

After pressing the Sound multifunction button in the tone menu, it is possible to select the desired setting using the "up" and "down" arrow keys. The setting can be stored using the "OK" button in the control cross.

IMPORTANT The 7-channel surround playback does not function for mono signal sources such as the AM wavebands with radio mode.

Balance/fader

Pressing the "Speaker" Bal/Fad button on the left-hand side activates the display for setting balance and fader.

The display shows a horizontal and vertical line which intercept. The horizontal line represents the fader and the vertical line, the balance.

The "left" and "right" arrow keys can be used to set the balance and the "up" and "down" arrow keys can be used to set the fader. The setting is stored when the "OK" button in the control cross is pressed. If the operator waits until the display changes, the value is also stored.

IMPORTANT A separate common balance and fader setting applies to the radio, CD and AUX modes and a common setting applies to the navigation mode.
