Telephone switch-on/switch-off characteristics, function - GF82.70-P-2007GZ

MODEL 164, 251 with CODE (386) Preinstallation for telephone "Handy", UPCI system with CODE (388) Telephone "Handy", UPCI system with CODE (389) Mobile phone preinstallation with universal interface, USA/Canada except CODE (498) Japan version up to Model Year 2008

Switch-on characteristics

The Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI) system is activated using the on/off button on the portable CTEL (A34/6). Automatic activation is also possible using a wake-up pulse via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) bus.

This can be initiated with the status "circuit 15 ON" of the COMAND, operating, display and controller unit (A40/3).

Before the Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI) system can be started up, it must be logged into the respective mobile radio network (e.g. D-net or E-net). The Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) on the SIM card is needed to do this.

After inserting the SIM card and then activating the portable CTEL, the user must enter the 4 to 8-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) when requested to do so.

This PIN prevents unauthorized use of the SIM card and therefore protects against misuse.

If the number is entered wrongly 3 times, the SIM card is barred and has to be released using the personal 8-digit Personal Unblocking Key (PUK). This allows entry of a new PIN. If the PUK is entered wrongly 10 times in succession, the SIM card can no longer be used and a new SIM card must be applied for from the service provider. If the PIN is entered correctly, the portable CTEL logs into the respective service provider network and is ready for use.

Switch-off characteristics

The Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI) system is deactivated using the on/off button on the portable CTEL or automatically after the run-on time set on the portable CTEL.

The portable CTEL can be completely shut down by pressing the ON/OFF button on the portable CTEL and removing the SIM card.

IMPORTANT The SIM card may only be removed after the portable CTEL has been deactivated in order to prevent permanent damage to the memory chip installed on the SIM card. When the portable CTEL is switched on again, the PIN has to be reentered.
