General
The DVD drive of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit supports the playback of video DVDs (DVD-V). The video image is shown on the display of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit after the Video base function has been activated.
Operating instruction
Video mode is operated using the following components:
- Control buttons on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit
- Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110)
- Right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
Function sequence
The DVD drive can be used to read out and decode video DVDs (DVD-V). The DVD menu and the "Track menu" are stored on the DVD. The audio signals in vehicles with code (810) Sound system are routed from the COMAND operating, display and controller unit via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the amplifier for sound system (N40/3) where they undergo final amplification.
The amplified and processed audio signals are output over direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left rear door speaker (H4/3)
- Right rear door speaker (H4/4)
- Left front door speaker (H4/5)
- Right front door speaker (H4/6)
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (H4/27)
- Left front door tweeter (H4/33)
- Right front door tweeter (H4/34)
- Left rear door tweeter (H4/35)
- Right rear door tweeter (H4/36)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)
The audio signal for the subwoofer speaker (H4/29) travels from the COMAND operating, display and controller unit to the sound system amplifier via MOST and from there, over direct lines, to the subwoofer amplifier (N40/9) and then to the subwoofer speaker.
For vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the audio signals undergo final amplification by the COMAND operating, display and controller unit and then sent to the following speakers via direct lines:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
- Left front door tweeter
- Right front door tweeter
- Left rear door tweeter
- Right rear door tweeter
Video mode is only available when the vehicle is stationary (up to 3 km/h). When the vehicle is moving on, audio playback remains active and - for safety reasons - a warning is shown on the display on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit.
