Telephone operation function
The UPCI (Universal portable CTEL Interface) (N123/1) control unit, UPCI (Universal portable CTEL Interface) holder (A34/15) and the portable CTEL (A34/6) are dealer options. The vehicles is only prepared for installation.
The portable CTEL can be placed in a holder known as the UPCI (Universal portable CTEL Interface) holder in the center armrest and thereby connected to the UPCI (Universal portable CTEL Interface) control unit.
The UPCI (Universal portable CTEL Interface) control unit is connected to the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) bus.
The telephone function is a feature of the UPCI (Universal portable CTEL Interface) control unit. However, the menu and user guidance is accomplished by the COMAND, operating, display and controller unit (A40/3).
User control can also be accomplished over the multifunction steering wheel or the portable CTEL buttons.
Telephone calls are only possible when the portable CTEL is in place and only in the hands-free mode.
The TELE AID emergency call system (code 359) is an autonomous system independent of the portable CTEL and UPCI UHI (Universal portable CTEL Interface) control unit.
