General standing lights/parking lights actuation function sequence
The standing/parking lights actuation is comprised of several subfunctions. These are:
- Standing lamp actuation
- Parking lamp actuation

Function requirements
- Rotary light switch in position "Standing lamps"
Standing lamp actuation function sequence
The position of the rotary light switch is read in by the upper control panel control unit via LIN and placed on CAN-B.
The front SAM control unit reads in the message and forwards the switch-on request to the rear SAM control unit.
Depending on the equipment fitted, the front SAM control unit actuates the following components:
- Standing and parking lamp
- Side-marker lamp
- Taillights and rear fog light (pulsed at P = 5 W)
- Taillights, side-marker lamp, parking lights (pulsed at P = 5 W)
- License plate lamp, rear-end door
Depending on the equipment fitted, the rear SAM control unit actuates the following components:
- Brake lights (pulsed at P = 5 W)
- Taillights, side-marker lamp, parking lights (pulsed at P = 5 W)
- License plate lamp, rear-end door
- Brake lights and taillights (pulsed at P = 5 W)
- License plate lamp, spare tire carrier
- Taillights, side-marker lamp, parking lights (pulsed at P = 5 W)
- Taillights for trailer (for code (550) Trailer hitch)
- License plate lamps for trailer (for code (550) Trailer hitch)
For the function feedback, the upper control panel control unit actuates the standing lights indicator lamp (S1e3) in the rotary light switch via LIN.
Lights on warning
If the standing lights are switched on by means of the position of the rotary light switch, with the transmitter key removed (A8/1) and the driver door open, an acoustic light warning is triggered via the warning buzzer (A1h1) in the instrument cluster (A1).

Parking lights actuation function sequence
The position of the rotary light switch is read in via LIN by the upper control panel control unit, placed on CAN-B, and received by the front SAM control unit.
The front SAM control unit forwards the switch-on request via CAN-B to the rear SAM control unit.
Depending on the equipment fitted, the front SAM control unit actuates the following components:
- Standing and parking lamp
- Taillights, side-marker lamp, parking lights (pulsed at P = 5 W)
- Left and right brake lights and taillights (pulsed at P = 5 W)
- Taillights for trailer (for code (550) Trailer hitch)
