Remove/install rear axle shaft - AR35.30-P-0620F

	Removing
1	Remove brake shoes of parking brake		AR42.20-P-0530B
2	Remove left rear RPM sensor (L6/3) or right rear RPM sensor (L6/4)
		Model 461.302 /304 /332 /334 /342 /344, 463.240 with rear axle 741 (except 741.52) with code (B02) ABS brake system with disk brake	AR42.30-P-0714GH

3	Unscrew the bolts (2) of the bearing cap (3) on axle tube (5)
4	Remove shift cylinder of differential locks	Except model 461.331 Only when removing the left rear axle shaft (4).	AR35.40-P-9131F
5	Unhook hand brake cable
6	Pull out rear axle shaft (4).	On model 461 with code (B02) ABS brake system and model 463 do not damage the antilock brake system (ABS) measuring ring otherwise the (ABS) will be rendered inoperative.
	Checking
7	Check rear axle shaft (4) for signs of damage.	If defective parts on the rear axle shaft (4) have to be replaced, see: ↓
		Disassemble and assemble rear axle shaft	AR35.30-P-7351F
	Install
8	Slide sealing ring onto the tapered roller bearing outer race	Replace the seal between the axle tube (5) and brake carrier plate.
9	Install rear axle shaft (4).	Before pushing in, make sure that the O-ring is mounted on the support ring and that the direction of rotation marked on the rear axle shaft (4) corresponds to the actual direction of rotation for forward travel. The axle will be damaged if the labeling and actual direction of rotation do not match. On model 461 with code (B02) ABS brake system and model 463 do not damage the antilock brake system (ABS) measuring ring otherwise the antilock brake system (ABS) will be rendered inoperative.
10	Attach hand brake cable.
11	Screw bolts (2) of bearing cap (3) onto axle tube (5)	Tighten bolts (2) evenly in a diagonal pattern until the bearing cap (3) and brake carrier plate abut the axle tube (5). Afterwards tight half a revolution in a diagonal pattern respectively until the specified tightening torque is reached. The bearing cap (3) could otherwise work loose.

12	Install shift cylinder of differential locks	Except model 461.331 Only when the left rear axle shaft (4) has been removed.	AR35.40-P-9131F
13.1	Install left rear RPM sensor (L6/3) or right rear RPM sensor (L6/4)	For left rear RPM sensor (L6/3) or right rear RPM sensor (L6/4) with limit stop. Ensure that magnetic end is clean.

13.2	Measure distance between measuring ring and left rear RPM sensor (L6/3) or right rear RPM sensor (L6/4) and adjust in bearing cap (3) by shifting left rear RPM sensor (L6/3) or right rear RPM sensor (L6/4)	For left rear RPM sensor (L6/3) or right rear RPM sensor (L6/4) without limit stop.
