Disassemble/assemble rear axle shaft - AR35.30-P-7351F

MODEL 461, 463 (except 463.270 /271) with disk brakes on rear axle

Example for retaining the slotted nut on the left rear axle shaft 

REMOVING Removing     
1 Remove rear axle shaft (1)   AR35.30-P-0620F 
DISASSEMBLING Disassemble     
2 Clamp rear axle shaft (1) before disassembling IMPORTANT Screw two wheel bolts into the rear axle shaft (1) and clamp this into the vise.  
3 Unlock and unbolt slotted nut with right-hand thread (9.1) or with left-hand thread (9.2) MPECIAL TOOL Fig 4
4 Remove locking plate (8)    
5 Press tapered roller bearing (6) off rear axle shaft (1) IMPORTANT With the antilock brake system (ABS) do not damage the ABS measuring ring. AR35.30-P-7351-01B

6 Remove bearing cap (2) and dust shield (5) from the rear axle shaft (1)    
7 Remove radial shaft sealing ring (3) from bearing cap (2).    
ASSEMBLING Assemble     
8 Press new radial shaft sealing ring (3) into the bearing cap (2) IMPORTANT Fill the space between the dust and sealing lip with grease. Apply a thin coating of grease to the sealing lip. *BR00.45-Z-1001-06A 
Press radial shaft sealing ring (3) into the bearing cap (2) flush to a maximum of 0.3 mm recessed.

9 Slide bearing cap (2) and dust shield (5) onto rear axle shaft (1)    
10 Slide tapered roller bearing (6) onto rear axle shaft (1)    
11 Press tapered roller bearing (6) with the locking plate (8) onto the rear axle shaft (1) NOTES The anti-twist lock of the locking plate (8) must align with the countersink on the rear axle shaft (1) otherwise the rear axle shaft (1) will be damaged.
In order to avoid damage to the tapered roller bearing (6), the bearing outer race must be turned during the pressing-on process.
IMPORTANT Replace locking plate (8).
The flat side of the locking plate (8) must point towards the slotted nut with right-hand thread (9.1) or with left-hand thread (9.2). The locking plate (8) is fitted to ensure that during the press on process pressure is only applied over the bearing inner race. With the antilock brake system do not damage the ABS measuring ring.

12 Install slotted nut with right-hand thread (9.1) or with left-hand thread (9.2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA35.30-P-1002-01C

13 Secure slotted nut with right-hand thread (9.1) or with left-hand thread (9.2) with locking plate (8) in both grooves IMPORTANT The slotted nut with right-hand thread (9.1) or with left-hand thread (9.2) has to be secured so that both directions of rotation are blocked (see above example).  
14 Slide square seal (7) onto the tapered roller bearing (6) IMPORTANT Replace square-sectioned seal (7).  
INSTALLING Install     
15 Install rear axle shaft (1)   AR35.30-P-0620F
