Identification on Demand (emergency call system))
- Breakdown assistance (Roadside Assistance)
- MB-Info call
- Vehicle remote door unlock
- Manual TELE AID emergency call (TELE AID = Telematic Alarm
- Circuit 15R On in quiescent state and with automatic TELE AID emergency call
- TELE AID system authorized and operating error-free
- The listed vehicle-related services are separately authorized
- The user is registered and authorized in the service center (Customer Assistance Center)
- An emergency call system control unit (N123/4) communication module authorized for the corresponding vehicle-related service is configured ex-factory with the telephone number of the corresponding service provider
- One mobile phone network is available in sufficient strength and quality
- Triggering of correspondingly listed vehicle-related services
The triggering of correspondingly listed vehicle-related services is described in greater detail in each respective subfunction.
Status indication of TELE AID, general
The red light emitting diode (LED) integrated into the SOS push button (S93/3) is used for displaying the following actions:
- TELE AID system self-test
- Operational readiness of TELE AID system
- Automatic or manual TELE AID emergency call active
Faults in the TELE AID system are also displayed in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1), depending on the fault type.
The LED integrated into the MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group (S93/6) flashes when an MB-Info call or the breakdown assistance is active.
The execution of the vehicle remote door unlock is displayed by a message in the instrument cluster.
The status indications of the TELE AID system are made up of the following subfunctions:
- TELE AID system status in quiescent state function sequence
- TELE AID system status function sequence for TELE AID emergency call
- TELE AID system status for breakdown assistance function sequence
- TELE AID system status for MB-Info call function sequence
- TELE AID system status for vehicle remote door unlock function sequence
The SOS push button is integrated into the overhead control panel control unit (N70).
TELE AID system status in quiescent state function sequence
As soon as the status Circuit 15R On is achieved, the red LED integrated into the SOS push button lights up during the self-test of the emergency call system control unit. Actuation is accomplished by the emergency call system control unit via a discrete line.
This indicates a self-test and testing of the following TELE AID system states:
- Emergency call system control unit power supply
- Functions within the emergency call system control unit (e.g. integrated communication module or memory)
- Authorization of the TELE AID system (e.g. of the communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit) or the user by the service center
- Communication with restraint systems control unit (N2/7)
- Communication with the EZS control unit (N73)
- SOS push button, function (e.g. jammed or open SOS push button)
- MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group, function
- Antenna splitter (A2/5), function
- Telephone and fax antenna (A2/22), function
- Left front GPS antenna (A2/23), function
- Emergency call antenna (A2/52), function
- Radio and cell phone antenna splitter (A28/1), function
- Communication with the voice control system control unit (A35/11) (up to 31.5.08)
- Communication with the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3)
- Hands-free system microphone group (A67b1), function
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (H4/27), function (as of 1.9.10)
- Left front emergency call speaker (H4/46), function (up to 31.8.10)
- Right front emergency call speaker (H4/47), function (up to 31.8.10)
The emergency call system control unit receives status Circuit 15R On via diagnostic CAN (CAN D) from the EZS control unit.
Communication from the restraint systems control unit ("LIFE signal" every 500 ms) with the emergency call system control unit takes place discretely.
The following components are each tested via a direct line:
- Emergency call antenna
- GPS antenna
- Antenna splitter
- Radio and portable CTEL antenna splitter
- Telephone and fax antenna
- SOS pushbutton switch
- MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group
- Hands-free system microphone group
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (as of 1.9.10)
- Left front emergency call speaker (up to 31.8.10)
- Right front emergency call speaker (up to 31.8.10) Voice control system control unit
- Restraint systems control unit
If no fault is present, the red LED integrated into the SOS push button goes out after approx. t = 3.5 s and thereby signals TELE AID system operational readiness.
If a fault is present, the red LED integrated into the SOS push button is permanently actuated by the emergency call system control unit via a direct line. Depending on the fault type, a message is displayed in the COMAND operating, display and controller unit and in the multifunction display in the instrument cluster and finally stored in the emergency call system control unit's memory.
The message is displayed in the COMAND operating, display and controller unit and in the instrument cluster by the emergency call system control unit via diagnostic CAN to the EZS control unit and then via interior CAN (CAN B).
TELE AID system status function sequence for TELE AID emergency call
After triggering an automatic or manual TELE AID emergency call, the emergency call system control unit intermittently (flashing) actuates one of the two red LEDs integrated into the SOS push button via a direct line.
TELE AID system status for breakdown assistance function sequence
After triggering the breakdown assistance using the MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group, the emergency call system control unit intermittently (flashing) actuates the LED integrated into the MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group directly via a direct line.
TELE AID system status for MB-Info call function sequence
After triggering the MB-Info call using the MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group, the emergency call system control unit intermittently (flashing) actuates the LED integrated into the MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group directly via a direct line.
TELE AID system status for vehicle remote door unlock function sequence
After triggering the remote door unlocking by means of a telephone call to the service center, the emergency call system control unit displays the message via the following route in the COMAND operating, display and controller unit and in the instrument cluster: via diagnostic CAN to the EZS control unit and then via interior CAN.
