MODEL 463.249 /271 up to 31.8.08 as of model year 2007
Depending on equipment installed in the vehicle one of the following control units is installed:
- Radio (A2) (not with model 463.249/271 or without code (ET4) COMAND operating and display system)
- COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) (for code (ET4) COMAND operating and display system or with model 463.249/271)
The term audio control unit is used for this in the function description.
Function requirements
- C. 15R On
- A mobile telephone network available in adequate strength and quality
- Compatible mobile phone plugged into the telephone handset (A34)
- Enabled Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card inserted in mobile phone
- Correct Personal Identification Number (PIN) entered (if set on the mobile phone)
- Mobile phone and audio control unit switched on
- Mobile phone system operating error-free
Operating instruction
A phone call is established and ended via:
- Buttons on the mobile phone
- Telephone buttons on the audio control unit
- Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
- Voice control system (VCS [SBS]) control unit (for code (EL1) LINGUATRONIC voice control system or with model 463.249/271 as of model year 07.5, YoM 07)
With model 463.249/271 it is only possible to operate audio, telephone and navigation components via the multifunction steering wheel button groups and via VCS [SBS] as of model year 07.5, YoM 07.
Establish call function sequence over mobile phone
Enter the telephone number via the buttons or select it from the mobile phone's phone book. The telephone call is established in handsfree mode by then pressing the "Accept phone call" button.
Establish call function sequence over audio control unit
Enter the telephone number using the buttons or select it from the lists (e.g. "missed calls", "dialed telephone numbers", "received calls" or "own address book") by scrolling forward and back in the "Telephone" menu. The telephone call is established in handsfree mode by then pressing the "Accept phone call" button.
Establish call function sequence over multifunction steering wheel button groups
Select the mobile phone's phone book by pressing the Accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3) via the selection menu in the instrument cluster (A1).
Select the name of the person to be called by scrolling forward and back in the mobile phone's phone book using the scroll forward/back button (S110s1). The telephone call is established in handsfree mode by then pressing the Accept/terminate phone call button.
The LIN converter (N135) reads in the multifunction steering wheel button groups voltage-coded and relays the signals to the steering column tube module (N80) via the local interconnect network (LIN).
Function sequence, establish call via voice control system
Voice control is activated by pressing the VCS [SBS] switch (S93/2) on the steering column tube module. An acoustic signal is emitted after activation has taken place. The signals of the hands-free system microphone group (A67b1) integrated in the inside mirror unit (A67) are read in by the voice control system control unit (A35/11) and transmitted via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the Universal Portable Cell Phone Interface (UPCI [UHI]) control unit (N123/1).
The following voice commands are possible:
- "Help" / "Help telephone"
- "Enter PIN"
- "Dial number"
- "Redial"
- "Store name"
- "Read telephone book"
- "Delete telephone book"
- "Delete name"
Terminate call function sequence over mobile phone
Pressing the "QUIT" button on the mobile phone terminates the telephone call.
Terminate call function sequence over audio control unit
Pressing the "END" button on the audio control unit terminates the telephone call.
Terminate call function sequence over button groups on multifunction steering wheel
The accept/terminate phone call button terminates the telephone call.
Terminate call function sequence over VCS [SBS]
Voice control is deactivated by pressing the VCS [SBS] switch on the steering column tube module, thereby terminating the telephone call.
