Remove/install fuel tank - AR47.10-P-4100V

MODEL 171 with ENGINE 113.989, 271, 272

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/Install    
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury  to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel. No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

1.1 Close Vario roof IMPORTANT With Vario roof open.
IMPORTANT The fuel tank can only be removed if Vario roof is closed.
 
2 Drain fuel tank (80)   AR47.10-P-4001V 
    FLUID SPECIFICATION Fuel tank capacity *BF47.10-P-1001-01A 
3 Remove top fuel tank cover   AR64.20-P-1080V
DANGER Risk of death  cased by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. -
4 Raise vehicle.   AR00.60-P-1000V
5 Detach tank vent hose (22) IMPORTANT Vehicles with the USA version, code 491: This connection is located on the top right at the tank.  
6 Dismount fuel hose (21) IMPORTANT Collect remaining fuel, seal connections.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace clamp.
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Set of plugs Fig 4
7 Slacken boot (23) from the circular groove and press into the vehicle interior    
8 Lower vehicle   AR00.60-P-1000V
9 Turn around insulation mat (83) toward top    
10 Disconnect electrical connector (81) at fuel filter (84) and loosen cable from fuel tank (80)    
11 Unscrew nuts (82). IMPORTANTInstallation:  The threaded bolts must be seated exactly in the center of the holes.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA47.10-P-1008-01B 
12 Pull back inner boot (70) into the vehicle interior    
13 Lift the fuel tank (80) and pull it a little to the left IMPORTANT Do not damage seal boot (75).  
14 Detach seal boot (75) from filler neck IMPORTANT Check the seal boot for damage and replace if necessary.  
15 Swivel the bottom side of the fuel tank (80) to the rear and remove the fuel tank (80)    
16.1 Screw puller into the pins (77) and pull out pins (77) IMPORTANT When replacing the fuel tank (80).

17.1 Remove the narrow part of the filler neck (76) IMPORTANT When replacing the fuel tank (80).  
18.1 Dispose of fuel tank (80) IMPORTANT When replacing the fuel tank.
If the fuel tank is replaced, the following components must be removed: ↓
 
    Remove fuel filter (84) AR47.20-P-5510V 
    Remove fuel level sensor AR47.10-P-7000V 
    Remove fuel pump AR47.20-P-5710V 
REFER TO FORMS Disposing of fuel tanks   OS47.10-P-0001-01A 
19 Install in the reverse order    
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns when working in engine during starting procedure Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

20 Carry out engine test run INSPECT Check fuel system for leaks.
