Draining and filling fuel tank - AR47.10-P-4001V

MODEL 171 with ENGINE 113.989, 271, 272

REMOVING Remove    
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury  to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel. No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

1 Open fuel filler flap and filler cap IMPORTANT so that there is no vacuum in the fuel tank when pumping out the fuel.  
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. When moving components, ensure that no body parts or limbs are within the operating range of moving parts. -
2 Open engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000V
3 Remove engine trim panel - -
    Engine 272 AR09.10-P-1150VA
    Engine 113.989 AR09.10-P-1150AC
4 Unscrew the cap from the service valve (2) IMPORTANT In engine 113.989, the service valve is located above the right cylinder bank.  
5 Screw on the pressure hose (4) at the service valve (2) and release the fuel pressure IMPORTANT Use safety tank for collecting the fuel.

6 Unscrew the pressure hose (4) from the service valve (2) SPECIAL TOOL Pressure hose Figure
7 Unscrew valve element (3) and connect pressure hose (4) to the service valve (2) for pumping out the fuel IMPORTANT Use safety tank for collecting the fuel.

8 Pull out the fuel pump relay (N10/2kA)   AR07.52-P-5793V
  Draining     
9 Bridge plug contacts 3 and 5 from the fuel pump relay (N10/2kA) and empty the fuel tank FLUID SPECIFICATION Fuel tank capacity *BF47.10-P-1001-01A 
  Charging     
10 Connect the grounding line of the suction master at the ground of the vehicle COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Suction master *WE58.40-Z-1001-22A 
11 Pump fuel out of the safety tank through the filler hole into the fuel tank IMPORTANT Observe manufacturer's operating instructions and notes.

INSTALLING Install     
12 Remove grounding line of suction master from vehicle COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Suction master *WE58.40-Z-1001-22A 
13 Install the fuel pump relay (N10/2kA)   AR07.52-P-5793V
14 Screw valve element (3) into service valve (2) IMPORTANT In engine 113.989, the service valve is located above the right cylinder bank.  
15 Screw on cap at service valve (2)    
16 Reinstall engine cover - -
    Engine 272 AR09.10-P-1150VA
    Engine 113.989 AR09.10-P-1150AC

17 Close engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000V
18 Screw on filler cap and close fuel filler flap
