Check contact switch in left engine hood catch for condition and function

Operation step 7

	Checking
	Risk of injury  caused by fingers being pinched or crushed  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lids, liftgates or sliding roof	Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts.	AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
	The locking system of the engine hood should not be oiled or greased. The engine hood hinges are maintenance free. Sluggish and defective locking systems must be replaced, they must not be freed off or repaired
1	Open engine hood		AR88.40-P-1000GZ
2	Check all elements of the locking system	Check for wear, cracks, deformation and damage. The components must be replaced even in the event of slight defects.
3	Allow engine hood to fall freely into engine hood locks from a max. height of 150 mm (1)	Both notches (1a) must latch securely in the engine hood catches (1) in order to guarantee faultless locking.
4	Check engine hood lock	Grasp the engine hood with your hand from the front and pull with a firm jerk to check the engine hood is locked properly. In the event of function impairment, replace engine hood catch (1) with notches (1a) subject to separate repair order.
5	Unlock engine hood and check retaining hooks (2) for proper function	For this purpose grasp engine hood with your hand from the front and pull with a firm jerk to check arresting of the safety hook (2). Do not actuate release lever (3) for retaining hook (2) or change its position
6	Check retaining hook (2) and its moving components as well as the lock pawl (4)	Check for wear, cracks, deformation and damage. When the engine hood is put down gently, the retaining hook (2) should arrest automatically in the locking pawl (4). Components must be replaced subject to separate repair order even in the event of minor defects or function impairments.
7	Check engine hood ATA switch (S62) in left engine hood catch for condition and function	Model 164.1/8 except model 164.195 The electrical connector must be contacted and must not be damaged. Check spring plate of contact switch of engine hood ATA switch (S62) for deformation and damage. The switching noise from the contact switch of the engine hood ATA switch (S62) must be audible. Components must be replaced subject to separate repair order even in the event of minor defects or function impairments.
8	Check contact switch of engine hood hybrid (S62/51) in right engine hood catch for condition and function	Model 164.195 The electrical connector must be contacted and must not be damaged. Check spring plate of contact switch of engine hood ATA hybrid (S62/51) for deformation and damage. The switching noise of the contact switch of the engine hood hybrid (S62/51) must be audible. Components must be replaced subject to separate repair order even in the event of minor defects or function impairments.
