Voice control, general
The individual functions of the driver information system are called up and operated via the voice control system (VCS [SBS]).
The VCS [SBS] is integrated into the radio with auto pilot system (A2/56). The system can be controlled by voice by spelling out or entering complete words.
The voice control can be activated or deactivated using the following buttons on the multifunction steering wheel (MFL):
- Voice control system ON button (S111s4)
- "Back" and voice control system OFF button (S110s4)
Voice control function sequence
The control signal from the VCS on button is forwarded to the radio with auto pilot system in the following way:
- Steering LIN (LIN E1)
- Steering column module control unit (N80)
- Chassis CAN (CAN E)
- Instrument cluster (A1)
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
The voice input takes place via the corresponding hands-free system microphone (A67b1) which is connected to the radio with auto pilot system via a direct line. The spoken word is converted into an electrical signal via the hands-free system microphone and forwarded to the radio with auto pilot system.
On vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the radio with autopilot system actuates the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker (H4/1)
- Right front door speaker (H4/2)
On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the radio with autopilot system transmits the audio signals via the media-oriented system transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3), which amplifies and output them over the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
