AMG Performance Media, general
The AMG Performance Media system is switched on and off again by pressing and holding the AMG button. The AMG Performance Media control unit receives the AMG button signal via the following route:
- Upper control panel control unit
- Instrument panel LIN
- Front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module
- chassis CAN
The AMG Performance Media system is operated using the Audio/COMAND control panel. The AMG Performance Media control unit receives the control signals via telematics CAN.
The COMAND controller unit receives the signals of the Audio/COMAND control panel via telematics CAN from the AMG Performance Media control unit.
The AMG Performance Media control unit sends video signals for screen display to the Audio/COMAND display via an LVDS line. When the screen display is generated, the AMG Performance Media control unit takes the day/night signal into consideration which it receives from the overhead control panel control unit (with code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof) or from the overhead control panel electronics (except code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof) via the following route:
- Wiper/inside rearview mirror LIN
- Front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module
- Interior CAN
The video signals for the screen display from the COMAND controller unit to the Audio/COMAND display (via LVDS lines) are looped through in the AMG Performance Media control unit.
The AMG Performance Media function consists of the following subfunctions:
- Function sequence for displaying, storing and exporting vehicle data
- Function sequence for settings
Function sequence for displaying, storing and exporting vehicle data
In the "Data" menu, vehicle-specific data concerning temperature, performance and tires can be called up and displayed as a graphic. The "Race" menu provides additional displays. Track courses can be recorded and the vehicle acceleration measured.
The "History" evaluation in the "G-Meter" submenu in the "Race" menu can only be activated if the vehicle is stationary.
Track courses and screenshots can be stored on a universal serial bus (USB) storage device (USB stick) via the AMG Performance Media electrical connector (in the glove compartment).
The AMG Performance Media electrical connector can only be used to store race courses and screenshots from the AMG Performance Media system.
The following control units send vehicle data via chassis CAN to the AMG Performance Media control unit:
- ME-SFI [ME] control unit (e.g. engine oil temperature, accelerator pedal position)
- Electronic Stability Program control unit (e.g. requested braking torque, wheel speeds)
- Steering column tube module control unit (steering wheel angle)
- Transmission mode control unit
- Adaptive damping system control unit (with code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package) (transmission mode)
- Front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (vehicle configuration, e.g. model series and national version)
The fully integrated transmission control unit sends vehicle data (e.g. gear range, current gear, transmission oil temperature) to the AMG Performance Media control unit via the following route:
- drive train CAN
- Transmission mode control unit
- chassis CAN
The COMAND controller unit sends global positioning system (GPS) data via interior CAN to the AMG Performance Media control unit.
Function sequence for settings
The "Setup" menu is called up via the application line on the Audio/COMAND display. The following settings can be made in the "Car" submenu:
- Setting active setup (transmission, chassis, Electronic Stability Program (ESP®))
- Save favorites setup
- Activate race start
The following settings can be made in the "Performance Media" submenu:
- Set units
- Restore manufacturer default settings
- Carry out software update
The AMG Performance Media system can also be reset to the manufacturer default settings with the Audio/COMAND control panel by pressing the "Back" button (A40/9s2) for 3 to 5 s and pressing the Audio/COMAND controller (A40/9s11) downwards and to the rear and holding it down at the same time.
