  Adjust     
1 Deactivate easy entry and exit feature for steering wheel Model 204, 207 with code (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors)
212, 218 with code (275) Memory package for electrically adjustable front seats
Model 172 with code (275) Memory package AR54.30-P-1000-02W for electrically adjustable front seats
NOTES It is essential to deactivate the easy entry and exit feature for the steering wheel. The steering wheel will otherwise move to a different position if, for example, the driver door is opened or closed. The headliner or windshield can then be damaged if the H holding device (055) is installed.

2 Fix steering wheel in center position using retainer (055); to do this, insert the retainer (055) in front of the sun visor NOTES Protect the emblem in the steering wheel against damage. The SPECIAL TOOL holding device (055) can otherwise damage the emblem.

3 Check center position (arrow) of steering gear and steering wheel IMPORTANT The steering gear is in the center position (arrow) when the marking on the cap matches the marking on the control valve housing. Adjust steering wheel by max. one tooth if necessary:  
    Remove/install steering wheel  
    Model 204, 207 AR46.10-P-0100CW
    Model 172, 212, 218 AR46.10-P-0100EW
4 Position wheel spreader (030) on inside of wheels at front relative to direction of travel    
5 Counterhold tie rod (10) at the hexagon and loosen jam nut (10f)    
6 Rotate the tie rods (10) to adjust the toe angle. Model 172 *BE40.20-P-1001-07A 
    Model 204, 207, 212, 218 *BE40.20-P-1001-07I 
7 Tighten jam nut (10f) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 204, 207, 212, 218 *BA46.40-P-1002-01N 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 172 *BA46.40-P-1002-01E 
8 Remove retainer (055) SPECIAL TOOL Holding device *129589012100
9 Remove wheel spreader (030)    
10 Check the boot for angular movement and align if necessary    
11 Activate easy entry and exit feature for steering wheel 212, 218 with code (275) Memory package for electrically adjustable front seats Model 204, 207 with code (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors)
