Remove/install belt drive components (Engine 156) - AR13.20-P-0001CMG
Remove engine air intake duct and front engine cover. Do not tilt front engine cover, but lift it off vertically toward top. The retaining lugs could break off otherwise.
Remove bottom engine compartment paneling. See AR61.20-P-1105EW .
Loosen poly-V belt (1) and remove. To do this, turn the hexagon (3) counterclockwise and lock the poly-V belt tensioning device (6) with a drift pin (4) (5 mm dia.). Installation: Fit on and poly-V belt (1) as per routing diagram and tension. Do not use belt wax or similar products. See AR13.22-P-3902-02AMG
Check
Check profile of belt pulley and poly-V belt tensioning device (6) for damage and soiling
Check poly-V belt (1) for wear and damage; replace if necessary. See AP13.22-P-1352CW .
Check guide pulleys (7, 8, 9, 10) and replace if necessary.
Guide pulley to coolant pump housing between power steering pump and guide pulley with grooved channel profile). See BA13.25-P-1003-01U .
Guide pulley to coolant pump housing (between alternator and smooth guide pulley). See BA13.25-P-1004-01U .
Guide pulley (between poly-V belt tensioning device and coolant pump). See BA13.25-P-1005-01U .
Guide pulley between A/C compressor and vibration damper. See BA13.25-P-1006-01U .
Carry out the following step only if removing/installing the poly-V belt tensioning device (6).
Remove screw/bolts (5) and poly-V belt tensioning device (6). Screw/bolt, poly-V belt tensioning device to timing case cover. See BA13.25-P-1001-01U . Check poly-V belt tensioning device (6) for damage and soiling; replace if necessary
Install in the reverse order.
