	Remove/install
	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.	-
	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts		-
	Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  with caustic burns to eyes and skin from battery electrolyte or from handling damaged lead-acid batteries	No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and goggles. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.	-
1	Disconnect ground line from battery		-

2	Raise vehicle		-
3	Remove rear part section of engine compartment paneling		AR61.20-P-1105V
4	Disconnect electrical connector from backup lamp switch (S16/2)
5.1	Remove heated O2 sensors	Model 171.454/ 456	AR07.52-P-5303VA
6	Detach center shifter console and shift rod on transmission		AR26.60-P-0600-02V
	Detach catalytic converter bracket (2) from transmission (1) and from catalytic converter	Model 171 with engine 271	*BA49.10-P-1011-01K  *BA49.10-P-1010-01K
7	Support transmission (1) with transmission jack and transmission platform and strap down	Transmission platform,
	Unscrew bolts (8, 9) and remove engine crossmember (3) with rear engine mount (4)	Model 171 Nm	*BA22.10-P-1003-01O  *BA22.10-P-1008-01O
	Mark position of propeller shaft relative to transmission (1) and propeller shaft
	Detach front flex disk (5) from transmission (1)	The front flex disk (5) remains on the propeller shaft. Installation: Note markings of installation position. Check the front flex disk (5) for wear and damage; replace if necessary. If the fitting sleeves are jammed in the front flex disk (5): Loosen fitting sleeves of front flex disk (5).	*BA41.10-P-1001-01A  AR41.10-P-0050-09V WF58.50-P-4110-01A
	Detach center shifter console and shift rod from transmission (1)		AR26.60-P-0600-02V
	Risk of poisoning from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with brake fluid	Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. Disconnect connector (6) for clutch actuation	- AH42.50-P-0001-01A
12	Lower the transmission (1) at the output end by approx. 100 mm
13	Remove bolts (1a) and remove transmission (1) downwards at an angle		*BA26.10-P-1001-01C
	Checking
14	Check central clutch operator (7)	Check for leaks, wear and damage, if necessary: ↓
		Replace central clutch operator (7).	AR26.40-P-0345V
15	Check pilot bearing in flywheel	Check for wear and damage, if necessary: ↓
		Replace flywheel.	AR03.30-P-8001V
16	Check clutch	Check for wear and damage, if necessary: ↓
		Remove clutch.	AR25.10-P-0050V
18	Install in the reverse order
19	Inspect transmission oil level	Carry out oil level measurement with slanted hexagon socket wrench. Correct oil level = 10 mm below the bottom edge of the filler opening.
