Disconnect/connect battery ground line - AR54.10-P-0003TA

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

1 Switch off the ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS control unit IMPORTANT On vehicles with code (889) Keyless go: Press keyless go start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off. Remove the transmitter key from the vehicle and store at a location that is beyond the transmitter range (at least 2 m).  
2 Fold up load compartment floor (1)    
3 Remove cover (2) of battery (G1)    
4 Disconnect electrical connector from battery sensor On vehicles as of 1.6.06.  
5 Loosen nut (4) and remove ground line (3) from battery (G1) NOTESInstallation:  Ensure that the ground line (3) is seated firmly, otherwise the negative terminal may be damaged.  
6 Install in the reverse order    
7 Perform basic programming   AR00.19-P-0200T
8 Read out fault memory, erase if necessary On vehicles up to 29.1.04.
