Adjust engine hood - AR88.40-P-3020T

REMOVING Remove     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. When moving components, ensure that no body parts or limbs are within the operating range of moving parts. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
1 Open engine hood (1)    
2 Remove both upper sections of engine hood lock (2)   AR88.40-P-3200T 
  Adjust in lateral direction     
3 Loosen bolt (3) on both engine hood hinges (4) and adjust engine hood (1) in lateral direction. Gap between engine hood and fender, dimension "A" *BE60.00-P-1001-01F 
SPECIAL TOOL *129589032100
4 Tighten bolts (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA88.40-P-1008-01A 
  Adjust in longitudinal direction     
5 Loosen bolts (5) on both engine hood hinges (4) and adjust engine hood (1) in longitudinal direction SPECIAL TOOL *129589032100
6 Screw tight bolts (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA88.40-P-1007-01A 
  Adjust height     
7 Close engine hood (1) and lay down on stop buffers (6).    
8 Check transition of engine hood (1) to front fenders and engine hood gap (1) to headlamp. If required, loosen nuts (7) and adjust height of stop buffers (6) NOTES Adjust stop buffers (6) so that engine hood (1) and radiator paneling cannot distort  
IMPORTANT Gap between engine hood and headlamp, dimension "B" and radiator grill and bumper, dimension "C". *BE60.00-P-1001-01F

9 Open engine hood (1)    
10 Install upper sections of engine hood lock (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA88.40-P-1004-01A 
11.1 Adjust height of striker eye (8) on upper section of engine hood lock (2) with adjustment nut (9) Only if necessary.
IMPORTANT The locked engine hood (1) should not have play in the area of the upper section of engine hood lock (2) or should have only slight tension
 
12 Close engine hood (1) and ensure that engine hood locks (10) arrest. For this purpose pull engine hood (1) upward with a jerk. IMPORTANT Engine hood (1) should drop and arrest automatically in engine hood locks (10) from a height of 100 to 130 (measured above fender tip).  
13 Unlock engine hood (1) and check arrest of safety hook (11) on radiator crossmember (12)    
14 Repair paint damage on bolts (3, 5) and adjustment nuts (9) with touch-up pencil
