Garage door opener, function - GF68.05-P-0001LE
MODEL 216.3, 221.0 /1 with CODE (231) Garage door opener with CODE (232) Garage door opener with frequency 284-390 MHz as of model year 2009 /YoM 08
Function requirements, general
- Circuit 15R ON
- Garage door opener system functioning properly
The status of circuit 15R is sent by the EZS control unit (N73) over the interior CAN (CAN B).
Garage door opener, general
The garage door opener transmitter unit is a remote control capable of learning with which various receivers of the opening and locking systems for doors or gates can be activated. The garage door opener is integrated in the interior mirror unit (A67).
The function is accomplished by the garage door opener indicator lamp (A67e4).
The garage door opener radio signal has a range of approx. 85 % of the original hand transmitter.
The following frequencies are available:
- 284...390 MHz
On vehicles up to 31.5.11, user guidance (two-hand operation) consists of a single-color indicator lamp in the garage door opener (red). On vehicles as of 1.6.11 user guidance (single-hand operation) consists of a multi-colored indicator lamp in the garage door opener (green, yellow and red).
The garage door opener system comprises the following partial functions:
- Function sequence, transmit radio signal
- Function sequence, program the memories
- Function sequence, erase the memories
- Function sequence for resetting to delivery status
Function sequence, transmit radio signal
When one of the following buttons is pressed, a radio signal assigned to this memory is transmitted:
- Garage door opener button 1 (A67s1)
- Button 2 garage door opener (A67s2)
- Button 3 garage door opener (A67s3)
The indicator lamp in the garage door opener serves for function feedback (red up to 31.5.11, green as of 1.6.11).
Function sequence, programming the memories
Vehicles up to 31.5.11:
Hold down desired button for at least t = 20 s. As a result the system changes into learning mode which is displayed by the flashing of the garage door opener (red) with f = 1 Hz. Continue to press selected button and hold original hand transmitter close to the garage opener transmitter unit with transmitter function activated for up to t = 90 s (s = 3 to 20 cm). The transmission frequency is now learned.
In the process the garage door opener transmitter unit searches for the suitable frequency among the possible transmission frequencies.
If the learning process is completed, this is confirmed by the garage door opener indicator lamp flashing rapidly red at a frequency of f = 5.6 Hz.
Vehicles as of 1.6.11:
Hold down desired button for at least t = 10 s. As a result the system changes into learning mode which is displayed by the flashing of the garage door opener (yellow) with f = 1 Hz. Then press original hand transmitter close to the garage opener transmitter unit with transmitter function activated for up to t = 90 s (s = 3 to 20 cm). The transmission frequency is now learned. In the process the garage door opener transmitter unit searches for the suitable frequency among the possible transmission frequencies.
Successful termination of the teach-in procedure is indicated by the garage door opener indicator lamp illuminating green (fixed code learned in) or flashing green (variable code with f = 5.6 Hz learned in).
An unsuccessful attempt is indicated by the garage door opener indicator lamp illuminating red.
The compatibility of the garage door opener is approx. 85% with those garage door opening systems offered in the main commercial outlets. If the original hand transmitter is not compatible with the garage door opener, a universal receiver ("Fix Kit Receiver") which reacts to the in-plant programming of the garage door opener can be installed in the garage.
Function sequence, erase the memories
Vehicles up to 31.5.11:
To erase the memories, press the two outer buttons (buttons 1 and 3) simultaneously for a period of a least t = 20 s. The garage door opener indicator lamp flashes red for a period of t = 10 s. Release buttons during flashing phase. The existing data of the memory locations is erased.
Vehicles as of 1.6.11:
To erase the memories, press the two outer buttons (buttons 1 and 3) simultaneously for a period of a least t = 10 s. The garage door opener indicator lamp flashes green for a period of t = 10 s. Release buttons during flashing phase. The existing data of the memory locations is erased.
The garage door opener goes to the learn-in mode when one of the three buttons is pressed again.
If no programming is performed in learning mode during a period of t = 100 s, the garage door opener switches off automatically to protect the on-board electrical system.
Function sequence for resetting to delivery status
To reset press the two outer buttons (buttons 1 and 3) simultaneously for at least t = 30 s.
