	Remove/install
1	Buffer basic data for left xenon light control unit (E1n1) or right xenon light control unit (E2n1) in STAR DIAGNOSIS.	Model 204.0/2/3 with code (614) Bi-xenon headlamp unit or code (615) Bi-xenon headlamp unit or code (616) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated asymmetric curve illumination or code (618) Bi-xenon headlamps or code (621) Intelligent Light System (left-hand traffic) or code (622) Intelligent Light System (right-hand traffic) When replacing the left front lamp unit (E1) or the right front lamp unit (E2).
		Installation: Transfer buffered basic data onto new left xenon light control unit or onto new right xenon light control unit.
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory		AD00.00-P-2000-04A
2	Remove radiator grille	When removing left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2). Model 204.0/2/3	AR88.40-P-4001CW
2	Remove radiator grille	Model 212	AR88.40-P-4001EW
3	Remove left or right cover (1)	When removing the left front lamp unit (E1) or the right front lamp unit (E2). Model 204.0/2/3
	Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
4	Lift vehicle on lifting platform.
5.1	Detach front bumper	When removing left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2).	AR88.20-P-2000-01CW
		Use suitable adhesive tape to mask off the bumper in the area of the left front lamp unit (E1) or the right front lamp unit (E2), as otherwise the paintwork may be damaged. Gap dimensions at hoods, doors and covers Model 204.0/2/3	AR60.00-P-0700-01CW

6	Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key (A8/1) or KEYLESS-GO start/stop button (S2/3) from electronic ignition lock control unit (N73)	KEYLESS-GO start/stop button only on vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go.
7	Remove screw/bolt (7), release catch hook (8) and slide left or right telescopic nozzle (6) toward rear	With code (600) Headlamp cleaning system Bolt (7) remains in the left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2). Installation: Check that journals (5, 9) are correctly seated in the left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2).
8	Press fender liner (3) to one side and remove screw/bolt (2) at rear at left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2)
9	Remove screw/bolt (4) at rear at left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2)
10	Press air ducting next to left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2) to one side, remove screw/bolt (10) and remove sleeve (11)	Sleeve (11) only in model 204.0/2/3
11	Pull out left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2) toward front until electrical connector on the rear can be disconnected
12	Disconnect electrical connector on rear of left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2)
13	Remove left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2)	Installation: Only screw in screws/bolts (2, 4, 10) until they make contact as the gap dimensions must be checked and adjusted, if necessary, following the installation of the front bumper.
