To perform operation steps 8 and 11, check whether the interior fuse box (F34) is installed. The interior fuse box (F34) is located below the cover (13) on the dashboard.

To perform operation step 10, check whether the right vehicle floor interior CAN potential distributor electrical connector (X30/33) is installed.

The right vehicle floor interior CAN potential distributor electrical connector (X30/33) is located in the cable duct in the right footwell.

	Remove

1	Move driver seat and passenger seat toward rear
	Risk of injury  caused by pinching or crushing  when working on springs or spring bodies that are under tension	Use only approved tensioning devices; shield off hazard area if necessary. Inspect special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection). Wear protective gloves.	AS00.00-Z-0001-01A
2	Disconnect battery ground line

3	Detach right edge guard (19) and left edge guard (20) in area of lower A-pillars.
4	Remove right A-pillar cover (14) and left A-pillar cover (15).
5	Remove door sill moldings	Door sill moldings are no longer required.
6	Remove left front floor covering (16) and right front floor covering (17).
7	Open right and left cable duct in front footwell.
8	Detach footrest in passenger footwell and turn around.	Do not disconnect electrical connectors on control units on footrests.
	Remove Parktronic system control unit (PTS)		AR54.65-P-0006CW
9	Remove front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)	Only on vehicles without interior fuse box (F34). Do not disconnect electrical connectors.

	Install
10	Retrofit control unit	Illuminated door sill molding control unit.	AN82.10-P-0001-03CW
		Double sided adhesive tape, width 25 mm	*BR00.45-Z-1075-02A
11	Retrofit wiring harness.	Only on vehicles without right vehicle floor interior CAN potential distributor electrical connector installed at the factory (X30/33).	AZ82.70-P-0001-04CW
12	Connect wiring harness	Wiring harness for illuminated door sill molding.	AZ82.20-P-0001-02CW
13	Install remaining parts	Operation steps 8 to 6 and 4 to 1.
14	Connect illuminated front door sill moldings and check for proper function	The illuminated door sill molding is activated by opening the corresponding door. The illuminated door sill moldings switch off automatically after approx. 5 minutes when a door is open.
