Remove/install pulsation damper - AR32.50-P-0013R (SL500, SL55 AMG 2003-2006, SL600 2004-2006, SL65 AMG 2005)

MODIFICATION NOTES

15.4.04 Active Body Control (ABC) pressure discharge deleted    
15.4.04 Disconnecting pulsation damper from pressure supply valve body has now been added Step 4  
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of death  cased by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid. Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  when drilling gas-filled assemblies or components (gas filling cannot ignite) Wear safety glasses and face mask. AS00.00-Z-0006-01A
NOTES Before opening the hydraulic system the area surrounding the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system    
IMPORTANT Notes on active body control suspension Models 215, 220, 230 AH32.50-P-0001-01N 
1 Remove rear section of inside fender liner from left front fender   AR88.10-P-1300R
2 Disconnect plug (2) from ABC pressure sensor (B4/5)    
3 Unscrew nut (1) at bracket of pressure supply valve unit (52)    
4 Disconnect pulsation damper (52a) from pressure supply valve body (52) IMPORTANT The engine should be switched off at least 5 minutes before the pulsation damper is disconnected.
IMPORTANT Use a suitable open-end wrench to hold the pressure supply valve body (52) stationary while loosening the pulsation damper.
 
5 Slowly unscrew pulsation damper (52a) from pressure supply valve body (52) IMPORTANT Fluid will emerge when the pulsation damper (52a) is unscrewed. Drain the emerging fluid into a suitable container for subsequent disposal.

6 Install in the reverse order    
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns when working in engine during starting procedure Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.
