Step 2.2

	Remove/install
	Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

1	Reduce pressure in suspension strut (41) with STAR DIAGNOSIS

3	Remove paneling from C-pillar	Only detach from the C-pillar in order to provide access to the suspension strut threaded connection. Vehicles with top protection, code Z07	AR68.30-P-4490SXS
		Vehicles without top protection	AR68.30-P-4490SX
4	Push the foam interlayer to one side until the pressure line (41a) and nuts (41b) of the suspension strut (41) are freely accessible	Move wiring harness in area of spring tower to one side.
5	Detach pressure line (41a) from suspension strut (41) and place aside		*BA32.25-P-1006-04L
		If pressure line connection or pressure line (41a) is damaged: ↓ Repair AIRmatic pressure line connection.	AR32.22-P-2001-02SX

7	Remove rear wheel

10	Detach paneling (16) from spring control arm (17)

	Only perform steps 13 to 16 on vehicles without top protection

14	Detach bolt (17b) securing suspension strut (41) to spring control arm (17)		*BA32.25-P-1005-04L
15	Remove bolt (17a) securing spring control arm (17) to rear axle carrier (25)	Lower the exhaust system using the transmission jack and transmission platform until the bolt (17a) can be removed. Counterhold spring control arm (17) with suspension strut (41).	*BA35.20-P-1001-01A
16	Swing spring control arm (17) downward
17	Remove suspension strut (41)	Installation: When inserting the threaded bolt into the spring tower, do not damage the wiring harnesses (between body and rear shelf) in the area of the spring tower. Installation: Loosely screw on nuts (41b). Do not tighten to specified tightening torque until suspension strut (41) is filled.
	Checking
18	Check suspension strut (41) and replace if necessary	When reinstalling suspension strut (41)	AR32.25-P-1017-02SX

19	Install in the reverse order
