	Remove/Install
	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
	Risk of injury  caused by moving parts that can pinch, crush or  , in extreme cases even sever extremities.	Keep all body parts and limbs away from moving mechanical components.	AS00.00-Z-0009-01A
	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts		AH00.00-N-0001-01A
	When working on the rear axle, ensure that the surfaces of the aluminum parts are kept free of scratches, cracks and indentations. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be affected
	Tighten nuts and bolts of chassis components only when vehicle is in the ready-to-drive condition.
1.1	Remove rear passenger compartment side trim panel	Model 211.2	AR68.30-P-4780T
2	Raise vehicle with lifting platform		AR00.60-P-1000T
3	Remove rear wheel
	Remove and install wheels		AP40.10-P-4050Z
4	Remove inner fender from rear fender		AR88.10-P-1400T
5.1	Disconnect rear axle multiple circuit junction connector for damping valve unit at rear axle	Vehicles with AIRmatic (semi-active air suspension), code 489	AR32.22-P-1500-01TH
6	Remove cover (2) from spring control arm (3)
7	Discharge to residual pressure in air spring (1) using STAR DIAGNOSIS and immediately raise spring control arm (3) roughly 30 mm with transmission jack	The air spring must not be full extended otherwise the air spring will be damaged beyond repair.

8	Counterhold mounting plate (4) with puller (8) and loosen by turning the piston rod	Installation:  Apply the torque to the piston rod to tighten the mounting plate. Otherwise static friction between the mounting plate and the upper rubber bushing (5) will prevent adequate torque from being applied.

9	Remove mounting plate (4) and upper rubber mount (5)
10	Detach shock absorber (6) from spring control arm (3)		*BA32.25-P-1002-03G
11	Slide damper (6) together and remove
12	Remove lower rubber mount (7)
	Check
13	Check upper and lower rubber bushings (5, 7)	Replace cracked, oiled and deformed rubber mounts.
14	Check shock absorber (6) for damage	Replace if necessary.
15	Install in the reverse order
