Remove/install xenon headlamp control unit - AR82.10-P-4632SX

MODEL 216.3 (except 216.386) 

MODEL 221.0 /1 up to 31.5.09 except CODE (800) Model year 2010 with CODE (487) Active Body Control (ABC) with CODE (614) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with CODE (615) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated curve illumination with CODE (616) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated asymmetric curve illumination

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by high voltage levels present at xenon headlamps.
Risk of explosion/fire hazard  due to highly flammable substances in the area of damaged xenon bulbs
Risk of injury  due to UV light, hot components on xenon headlamps and glass splinters when xenon bulbs burst
Risk of poisoning  caused by inhalation of mercury vapors and by toxic salts and mercury compounds being ingested or coming into contact with skin
Do not come into contact with parts that are under high voltage. Persons with active electronic implants  (e.g. heart pacemakers) must never work on xenon headlamps. Switch off entire lighting system. Wear insulated safety shoes, safety glasses and protective gloves. Remove highly inflammable materials from the hazard area. Ensure sufficient ventilation in the working area. AS82.10-Z-0001-01A

1 Temporarily store basic data for xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1 or E2n1) in STAR DIAGNOSIS When replacing xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1 or E2n1).
IMPORTANTInstallation  : Transfer temporarily stored basic data to new xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1 or E2n1).
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
2 Remove front section of fender liner in right front fender Model 216.376/379, when removing right xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1).
Model 221.176/179, when removing right xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1).
 
3 Remove right telescopic nozzle of headlamp cleaning system (HCS [SRA]) and place to one side with hose connected Model 216.376/379, when removing right xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1). AR82.15-P-6100SX 
4 Remove engine compartment paneling at front Model 216 except 216.376/379, when removing right xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1).
Model 221, when removing right xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1).

5 Remove windshield washer fluid reservoir Model 216, when removing left xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1).
Model 221, when removing left xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1).
AR82.35-P-6000SY 
6 Switch off ignition and withdraw transmitter key or Keyless Go start/stop button from the EIS [EZS] control unit IMPORTANT Keyless Go start/stop button only for vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go.  
7 Remove driver-side frontal acceleration sensor (B48/1) and passenger-side frontal acceleration sensor (B48/2) with bracket from crossmember behind front bumper and place to one side with wiring harness attached TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA91.60-P-1009-01L 
8 Detach xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1) from bottom side of left front lamp unit (E1) or xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1) from bottom side of right front lamp unit (E2) IMPORTANTInstallation  : Ensure that the seal (4) is correctly located.

9 Unplug electrical connector (5) and remove xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1 or E2n1)    
10 Install in the reverse order    
11 Check adjustment of left low beam or right low beam, correct if necessary When replacing xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1 or E2n1).  
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Check and correct the adjustment of the headlamps   AP82.10-P-8260SX
