MODIFICATION NOTES

20.1.11 Steering wheel must be in straight-ahead position, added Operation step 2
INSPECT Check     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by high voltage levels present at xenon headlamps.
Risk of explosion/fire hazard  due to highly flammable substances in the area of damaged xenon bulbs
Risk of injury  due to UV light, hot components on xenon headlamps and glass splinters when xenon bulbs burst
Risk of poisoning  caused by inhalation of mercury vapors and by toxic salts and mercury compounds being ingested or coming into contact with skin
Do not come into contact with parts that are under high voltage. Persons with active electronic implants  (e.g. heart pacemakers) must never work on xenon headlamps.
Switch off entire lighting system. Wear insulated safety shoes, safety glasses and protective gloves. Remove highly inflammable materials from the hazard area. Ensure sufficient ventilation in the working area.

DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

1 Check tire inflation pressure, correct if necessary Tire inflation analyzer - mobile - with / without reservoir  
2 Park the vehicle on a horizontal, level surface IMPORTANT The vehicle must be in the ready to drive condition (curb weight, fuel tank full or corresponding additional weight) and the steering in the straight-ahead position.  
3 One person to occupy the driver seat or load the seat with 75 kg Except vehicles with code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package  
4 Prepare headlamp aimer (01) IMPORTANT Align headlamp aimer (01) approx. 10 to max. 30 cm in front of the headlamps parallel to the vehicle at the height of the light source.
Adjust the specified headlamp inclination on the scale of the headlamp aimer (01): ↓

5 Start the engine and switch on the low beam at the exterior lights switch (S1) IMPORTANT Do not  switch on flasher and rear fog lamp!  
6.1 Check headlamp range adjustment for proper operation by adjusting the headlamp range controller Vehicles with halogen headlamps
IMPORTANT The light beams of the headlamps must adjust evenly.
 
6.2 Check function of headlamp range adjustment through placement of additional weights in the luggage compartment Vehicles with xenon headlamps
IMPORTANT The height of the light-dark boundary shall not change when loading or unloading the weights.
 
7.1 Move headlamp range controller to 0 position Vehicles with halogen headlamps  
7.2 Remove additional weights from the luggage compartment Vehicles with xenon headlamps  
8 Check low beams adjustment and correct if necessary IMPORTANT Vehicles with bi-xenon headlamps, correct the adjustment subject to separate repair invoice. AP82.10-P-8260-01CW 
9 Check setting of high beam   AP82.10-P-8260-02CW 
10 Check setting of front fog lamps and correct if necessary Vehicles with front fog lamps AP82.10-P-8260-04CW 
11 Switch off light and turn off engine
