The overhead control panel control unit (N70) actuates the left interior lamp (N70e4) and the right interior lamp (N70e5) when they are switched on or off (dimmed).

The light is switched off automatically after the "Interior lamp OFF delay time" set at the instrument cluster (A1) has expired. The "OFF delay time" can be set from 0 to 20 seconds in 5-second increments.

If the anti-theft alarm (ATA alarm) is triggered, the left interior lamp (N70e4) and the right interior lamp (N70e5) are switched on immediately without being dimmed. In the event of an undervoltage or overvoltage condition, the left interior lamp (N70e4) and the right interior lamp (N70e5) are switched off immediately without being dimmed. When the correct voltage is restored, the left interior lamp (N70e4) and the right interior lamp (N70e5) are switched on immediately without being dimmed.

The term "Dimming" used here refers to switching on or off only. It should not be confused with the dimming of the switches and switch and controls illumination via Circuit 58d.
