	Remove/install
	Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel and risk of injury  to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel	No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.	AS47.00-Z-0001-01A
1	Check fuel level	The fuel tank may only be filled half full otherwise fuel can find its way into passenger compartment. Pump off fuel as required for an intact fuel pump: ↓
		Empty fuel tank, fill again.	AR47.10-P-4001SXI
2	Relieve pressure in fuel tank	For this step open fuel filler flap and filler cap and reseal.
3	Move front passenger seat to front-most position
4	Switch off ignition
5.1	Detach right or continuous rear seat cushion	Vehicles without top protection
		Model 221.0 with rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats with PRE-SAFE positioning function for outer seats and outer head restraints, code 223 Model 221.1 with rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats with PRE-SAFE positioning function for outer seats and outer head restraints, code 223 and with Design rear bucket seat system, code 224	AR91.12-P-1020SX

5.2	Remove seat adjustment mechanism (8) on right rear seat	Vehicles with top protection, code Z07	AR91.12-P-1520SXS
6.1	Fold back the insulation mat (1)	Vehicles without top protection
6.2	Unclip floor covering (9) in the area of special protection mat (10) and lift	Vehicles with top protection, code Z07
7	Lift special protection mat (10) and set aside	Vehicles with top protection, code Z07 Ensure correct the special protection mat (10) must lay evenly! Align cutouts in the special protection mat (10) to the bores in the floor plate.
8	Turn cover (2) counterclockwise and remove	The markings (2a, 2c) must point towards each other for the purposes of disassembly and assembly. In a locked condition the markings (2a, 2b) must point towards each other. Check for leaks before attaching the cover (2).
9	Unscrew nuts (3a)		*BA47.10-P-1001-01L
10	Remove ring (3) and cover (4)	Replace gasket (4a).
11	Release and disconnect fuel pump connector (M3x1)
12	Release and detach fuel line (5)	Press notch (01) in the direction of the arrow using a screwdriver.
13	Open catches (6) in direction of the arrow
14	Remove fuel pump (M3) from swirl pot (7)	Catch escaping fuel with an absorbent rag to avoid fouling of the passenger compartment. Allow escaping fuel to flow off into right half of fuel tank.
15	Install in the reverse order
	Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running	Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
16	Start engine and check fuel system for leaks
