4	Remove wheels

5.1	Disconnect electrical connector (3)	Only on vehicles with AIRmatic (air suspension with level adjustment and Adaptive Damping System ADS), code 489.
6.1	Unclip connector (4)	Only on vehicles with AIRmatic (air suspension with level adjustment and Adaptive Damping System ADS), code 489.
7	Using the telescoping/transmission jack (6) under the supporting joint until the wheel suspension is slightly deflected Telescopic transmission jack	This prevents the wheel suspension from sinking and the air spring being damaged due to elongation when the rear shock absorber (1) is removed. Transmission jack 2.0-7.0 t
8	Unscrew nuts (2)
9	Unscrew nut (5)
10	Pull out bolt (7)
11	Slide rear shock absorber (1) carefully together and remove	Ensure that the cover plate (9) and the two sealing rings (10) are removed together with the rear shock absorber (1). Do not damage any components in the installation area of the rear shock absorber (1).
	Checking
12	Remove sealing rings (10) and cover plate (9) of the rear shock absorber (1) and check upper rubber mount (8) of rear shock absorber (1)	Replace if necessary.
13	Check rear shock absorber (1) for damage	Replace if necessary.
	Install
14	Position cover plate (9) on rear shock absorber (1) and fit sealing rings (10)	Use new sealing rings (10).
15	Insert rear shock absorber (1)	Insert rear shock absorber (1) first at the top then at the bottom.
16	Screw on nuts (2)	Do not tighten nuts yet (2)
17	Insert bolt (7) and screw on nut (5)	Do not tighten nut (5) yet.
18	Using the telescoping/transmission jack (6) lift the wheel suspension under the supporting joint until the wheel suspension is deflected to the driving level Telescopic transmission jack	The rubber mounts of the suspension are hereby set to the neutral position. Transmission jack 2.0-7.0 t
19	Tighten nuts (2)		*BA32.25-P-1002-03L

21	Lower the wheel suspension with the telescoping/transmission jack (6) and remove the telescoping/transmission jack (6) Telescopic transmission jack	Lower suspension slowly! Transmission jack 2.0-7.0 t

24	Attach rear wheel
