2	Attach set of hold-down devices (3) to middle camshaft bearing of the cylinder heads	The set of hold-down devices (3) assumes function of camshaft bearings and relieve the load on camshaft brackets (2).

3	Set piston on the cylinder 1 to ignition top dead center (OT)	Turn engine at vibration damper (6) in direction of engine rotation until top dead center markings (5) on camshafts (1) stand opposite each other and markings (4), seen in the direction of travel, are aligned on the left side to the upper edge of the cylinder head. The TDC marking (arrow) on vibration damper (6) must be aligned with stay on timing case cover (7). If basic position of camshafts (1) is not OK, timing chain must be checked for damage or chain elongation.
